I know of nothing that is not in dispute or has been completely disproved for the spontaneous generation of life on Earth.

Miller and Oparin's experiment of lightening in a mixture of gases to form chemical generation of life was disproved because the early Eath did not contain those gases.

The long time line theory doesn't work because if the earth is only 5 billion years old like scientists think that it is then that is not enough time to get better odds than 1 chance in 10 to the 60th power. That number is so high as to not even be feasible.

Laws of thermodynamics claim that left alone systems will develop more chaos as opposed to more order so how can leaving alone a bunch of chemicals lead to the creation of a more complex system that is a living thing.

Do not tell me to go read a science book because I have and the answers do not match up any better than how creationism says life came into existence. Point out to me where the facts support you 100% instead of using faith.

I read in my Bible that only certain people are given the authority by God to believe in Jesus. Is this true, and if so, why wouldn't God want everyone to believe in Him?

is that the truest sign that your religion is garbage and not related to goodness or benevolence, but rather ignorance and bigotry?

I think it is.

Maybe they would find the Muslims are digging too.

I am not a believer, and, while it is interesting to talk about religion, I find it odd that some people seem to devote all their YA time to making jokes about what they consider the "opposition".

I find it just as weird that some believers seem to want to bait the "opposition" with endless questions which they think seem to either "challenge" evolution or make sure atheists know they are going to hell.

What is so intriguing about these kinds or arguments?

The human race appears to be lacking morals more so than any other time in history.

What is the end result for an immoral society?

DO you practice what you say? I do not answer any questions, of things I know I am doing, or am trying to stop. I notice a lot of Muslims say a lot of things about islam but don't practice it much. I see Muslim women half-nude and no one seems to capture the real essence of Islam. I AM NO ONE TO JUDGE ANYONE BECAUSE I DO SO MUCH WRONG MYSELF AND HOPE INSHALLAH I WILL BE FORGIVEN AND SHOWN THE RIGHT PATH. AS I AM TRYING MY BEST. But I know so many muslim brothers and sisters who frankly don't give a damn..

What do you think about what I said? Do you agree? How can we make ourselves better Muslims?

would an attack from another planet unite the world?

2007-07-06 14:39:10 · 15 answers · asked by HERBS 2

Granted, I don't necessarily believe in these things, but I'm interested in hearing from people who do (not those who don't - I already understand your perspective).

Some examples that come to my mind are healing, empathy, astral travel, any so-called psychic abilities, etc.

As with my last question, forgive my ignorance of the subject; I am merely seeking knowledge. Even if you can only provide a resource, that is all right.

The alternative to what I pose is: natural abilities. They can co-exist, I imagine, but is it that a person either has them or doesn't, or is it that one can develop them on his own?

If people have a natural "tendency" towards certain abilities, how can they discover it?

Lots of questions, I'm afraid...

I see that question so much on here? Do you seriously not know, or are you really trying to be a jerk? This is the Religion and SPIRITUALITY section. Just because someone isn't religious doesn't meant they aren't spiritual.

Dr. W Graham Scroggie of the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, a prestigious Christian evangelical mission, says:

“..Yes, the Bible is human, although some out of zeal which is not according to knowledge, have denied this. Those books have passed through the minds of men, are written in the language of men, were penned by the hands of men and bear in their style the characteristics of men….It is Human, Yet Divine,”

Another Christian scholar, Kenneth Cragg, the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem, says:

“...Not so the New Testament...There is condensation and editing; there is choice reproduction and witness. The Gospels have come through the mind of the church behind the authors. They represent experience and history...”

After listing many examples of contradictory statements in the Bible, Dr. Frederic Kenyon says:

“Besides the larger discrepancies, such as these, there is scarcely a verse in which there is not some variation of phrase in some copies [of the ancient manuscripts from which the Bible has been collected]. No one can say that these additions or omissions or alterations are matters of mere indifference

Does that mean "as opposed to all the acceptable sciences"..?

Why do creationists misrepresent science, and then attempt to tear down this ficticious representation with childlike analogies and distorted logic..?

When creationists argue against science, they are NOT arguing against mainstream scientific principles and understandings, but are instead using lies to denounce lies..

Doesn't this only make them look foolish and ill informed..?
