I am not a believer, and, while it is interesting to talk about religion, I find it odd that some people seem to devote all their YA time to making jokes about what they consider the "opposition".

I find it just as weird that some believers seem to want to bait the "opposition" with endless questions which they think seem to either "challenge" evolution or make sure atheists know they are going to hell.

What is so intriguing about these kinds or arguments?

Some people are not sure if what they believe is right, or there would be no arguement.

both sides feel threaten by the other. Religious feel threaten that Atheist will remove religion from society.

Atheists fear that the religious people want to hinder science, and force people to worship a deity and follow certain religious practices.

Also there is a conflict between the various religious denominations such as Islam against Judaism; but also a conflict between the denominations themselves, like catholics against protestants.

Evolution has been prove to be highly plausible this puts fear into people who were taught that god simply created everything.

Each side tries to out due the other. Some have posted great questions and answers and others have not.

I don't know. I don't just see believers baiting, but also non-beleivers. Such as there "Can G-d create a stone/object/planet/whatever that he cannot lift/control/whatever? If not he is not all powerful. If he can, then he is not all powerful?"

They think they are clever with these kinds of questions - and in reality they are the same tired things that have been brought up for centuries and answered extremely well if only they bothered to read.

I think a lot of people like to start fights. The like to ask opinions of people they know aren't going to agree with them. And they they cry foul and say they aren't being tolerated because someone's opinion doesn't match their own.

Trying isn't? And unfortunately I don't think they will stop anytime soon.

The personal satisfaction a person gets from feeling that they are right and the other person is wrong. It is almost like a sporting event where everyone is competing for the trophy or award. However, I think it is important to respect the opinion of others. Even if you disagree about certain subjects doesn't mean that we all can't learn something from one another.

I see hate on both sides, I see non christians post hatred questions that have no bearing in wanting answers.

I see Christians posting questions that have no bearing on showing who Christ really is.

I see non christians who answer Christian's questions with obscene material and then give all the Christians thumbs down, which i find rather amusing that they are that threatened by believers to answer Christians questions to other Christians.

Its just a cycle and no one wins.

Something a little strange is going on, I think. There has been some kind of fundamentalist Christian movement going on in America, with a literalist slant.. perhaps a backlash against the scientific advances in genetics and elsewhere. They've even placed their propoganda on the money - "In God We Trust", it all says now.

It is more of a "phony war" as no side gets anywhere on here. Eventually one gives up and resorts to making jokes.

Yes, there is a war and you are enlisted even if you do not want to fight. The war is against good and evil. God is good and satan is evil. There are two seeds and two Fathers -the father of darkness (satan's seed) and the Father of Lights (Jesus's seed) These are two irreconcilable forces. You are enlisted in one of these two armies satans or God's Son's. If you are an atheist (i believe that you are a believer in disguise- since you carry money in your pockets saying in God you trust- that's hypocritical) you are in satans army and you are fighting against God ( Oh I forgot you cannot do that because there is no God) and since you are fighting against God you are at war with me. It is my responsibility to rescue you out of satans kingdom and bring you into the kingdom of light. I do not fight with weapons of flesh but with spiritual weapons of prayer. Therefore I am praying for you right now to give your heart to Jesus Christ.

As far as the war question; YES there is a spiritual war at all times for your soul.. God wants to bring you home safely, and the devil wants you to burn with him in the lake of fire
