Granted, I don't necessarily believe in these things, but I'm interested in hearing from people who do (not those who don't - I already understand your perspective).
Some examples that come to my mind are healing, empathy, astral travel, any so-called psychic abilities, etc.
As with my last question, forgive my ignorance of the subject; I am merely seeking knowledge. Even if you can only provide a resource, that is all right.
The alternative to what I pose is: natural abilities. They can co-exist, I imagine, but is it that a person either has them or doesn't, or is it that one can develop them on his own?
If people have a natural "tendency" towards certain abilities, how can they discover it?
Lots of questions, I'm afraid...

Greetings Friend,
To answer your question, I would say yes and no. Yes you can use your will to take steps that will help you to become more open to the "un-seen" realm, but no, in my experience, you cannot force it to happen. I was a minister once and I tried healing others through my will or force - it did not work. But, there was other times that I was just open and let what ever happen happen and miracles occurred.
We all have tendencies and natural skills. One way that you can discover yours is by writing down what you like to do. What are you naturally good at? What is fun for you? Just from my limited interaction with you on Yahoo Answers, I can tell that you are very intelligent, that you like to learn, debate, and write. So with just my very limited perception, I'd say you'd make a good lawyer, teacher, instructor, supervisor, coach, or the like. However, the best career for you would probably be a preacher. Don't hate me. I am semi- joking. I know you are agnostic but I still think you would be good at it. In fact, better than most because you would not feel the need to make up stuff you don't know the answer to (I am thinking more along the lines of do's and don'ts here).
Anyway, only you can answer that.
sending love,
Oh just to add a little some thing for you to follow up on. The U.S. government has done experimentation with things like Remote Viewing, which some teach that anyone can learn. They have proven it actually works, so if it sounds interesting check it out.

I think a person can develop them if they practice enough. The person has to really believe in the things they are trying to do.I think some people are just born with a stronger ability and it is easier for them to do the paranormal abilities. Here is a link to a site with tips on astral travel and remote viewing.

Lonely in Siberia? this is the worst obtainable situation you could arise with? How approximately getting caught below the rubble of a collapsed construction with the lifeless bodies of your loved ones around you, and your chest compressed in basic terms sufficient to maintain you alive for days yet no longer sufficient which you would be able to strengthen your lungs and take a deep breath. How long are you able to guard the burden of reality while each and every thing around you collapses? it surely relies upon on how reliable your inner existence is.

Psychic ability is something that sort of comes naturally to a lot of people and then they must learn to control it and intensify it if it is to be of any use to anyone, the possessor of the ability included. I am presently learning to use my ability. But it is a long, long story and a tedious one I am afraid...

I believe that you either have it or you dont. Some people are given gifts that some of us dont understand. Why they are given certain abilities I'll never know(I am not one of them). What I have heard from alot of people with abilities is that they've always been that way since childhood.

Lot's has been proven about paranormal abilities: they simply do not exist. Read about the "Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University" (predecessor to the Rhine Institute). It was dismantled for a very good reason: there was nothing in the end to study.
