... if that person is sincerely, honestly joyful of what they believe?

When does it become your right to silence someone else's joy if no perceived harm is being done to you?

The Bible says…
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

Do our sins still bring about death even as Christians?

I can't help but notice that a large number of the worlds problems are cause by conflicts in relation to religious views.

Do you think if everyone was either Athiest or Agnostic that the world would be a much happier place?

Some examples I can think of:

Terrorism - Islamic extremists

Hatred towards gays etc...as their behaviour is seen as wrong (stemed religiously).

These weird american religious channels...which just seem an extortionate way to brain wash people and take their money.

Slavery - there was also slavery of white people in the middle east, not just the africans!

I can't really be bothered to write more...but chip in with some examples if you like!

Need a few million for a big building. Plus an outreach budget, paid staffing, a car, my salary, printing, postage, a web site, youth programs for the kids....

Religions aren't cheap ya know. Don't worry, i won't tell you how to live your life or brainwash you with a bunch of superstition.

In fact, I think the best philosophy would encourage debate, ask people to use their own reason and apply logic. Disagreement and questioning sound like a lot more fun that reading quotes from an old book. Maybe there isn't ONE big answer. Maybe we just need a few good qestions.

of course, anyone, mormon or not, is more than welcome to share any knowledge they may have. thanks for the input

But rather enlightened to share what you believe?

I've seen alot of people who, rather than try to explain their beliefs, yell and scream, spew angry things at the people challenging them.

I've seen it from christians I've seen at from atheist, jews, muslims, everyone so i'm not attacking one group, just posing this question.

I fill great that I know enough about my beliefs to where I dont feel hurt when someone attacks them. Do you think the people that scream or get angry are the ones who really dont know enough about what they believe?

I know thats all that matters, and if I allow love to motivate my decisions, then whatever god or source of divine energy that sees it fit to judge our souls could surely not hold it against me.

Some claim the new testament gives examples of prophesies come true, but it is evident that people distorted events to make them appear to be old testament prophesies come true.
One can prophesy anything, and then twist a later event to make it appear related. Fortune tellers do it all the time.

I've read that the Egyptian Pharaohs believed that they were gods. As there were no other gods for them to marry outside of their family, they would marry their sisters, so as to maintain the royal/divine bloodline. In a family as exclusive as this, it seems odd that they would adopt a baby they found floating around in a river.

Is there any archaeological or historical evidence that the pharaohs or their families ever adopted anyone?

Fellow travelers on the way, I request your assistance.
I'm almost 17 and I have a really unhealthy addiction to porn and masturbating. I do this as a vain substitute to the fact that I have found no girl worthy of my love and fear I won't until I've achieved enough money to move to tahiti or that I never will at all. I try to keep telling myself that my day is gonna come and that the grass is greener on the other side, but that doesn't help much because I feel I've been waiting too long already. I've been trying to stop time and time again but everytime I do I relapse. Can you help a struggling fully confirmed Christian out?

I'm catholic, i attend church, put money in collections, believe in God, Jesus, the virgin Mary, attended private catholic elementary school. Now onto my question does it make me a bad Catholic that i think that there is nothing wrong w/gay people and i believe they should be allowed to get married like everyone else. I also believe in a woman's right to choose. I don't like abortions but i'm noone to tell anyone else how to lead their lives. Does this mean that i should not be catholic? i dunno i'm confused

Also aren't we supposed to follow Christ's teachings and aren't these teachings about love, so why would i turn my back or judge people because of their live decisions.

"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet" (History of the Church, Vol. 6, pp. 408, 409).

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

This is also troubling...
* Brigham Young said that the "Christian God is the Mormon's Devil..." (Journal of Discourses, Volume 5, page 331).

Stop with the rude comments you are only hurting yourself. Every action has a reaction.

ANYWAYS
If someone doesn't kill themself but kills someone else on purpose they can still be saved yet if someone kills themself instead of someone else they just go to hell?
Where is the fairness in this? Especially if that person had a nonselfish reason for killing themself. Is it because after you kill someone if you are still alive you can go to church or something?

This question was mainly inspired by all the people on answers who suggested i speak to my local church about questions i post on answers. The question is if you had a social or personal issue would you feel comfortable speaking to someone at your local church face to face and would you feel a priest or minister is the right person to speak too? I do'nt think i would. Serious answers please.

Do you fundies actually believe this?

Luke tells us specifically that anyone who divorces and remarries another is committing adultery.

So, by a literal interpretation of 1 Corinthians 6:9, the divorced, fornicators, effeminate or abusers of themselves with mankind will not inherit the kingdom of God.

So, do you really believe then that considering 50% of the population is divorced, 10% are gay and most everyone fornicates...that anyone will get into heaven...

And please don't give me this repent stuff...because for the only way for a divorced person to repent would be to remain celibate...same for a gay person, or fornicator...

So, do you think the JW's are right...only 144,000 will get into heaven?
