— Alfred North Whitehead
God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.
— Voltaire (1694-1778)
One man's theology is another man's belly laugh.
— Robert Heinlein
Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee
And I'll forgive Thy great big one on me.

I cannot see how a man of any large degree of humorous perception can ever be religious -- except he purposely shut the eyes of his mind and keep them shut by force.

Well, you DO have to admit that the platypus is a bit of a hoot, don't you?
However, I'd have to conclude that the idea of God is more comical and that he's humor enough to leap to a platypus as the one endowed with a sense of humor.

A creator planned evolution to create the platypus and have it still surviving while humans were at this stage development.
Yes, it does have a sense of humor, but it is somewhere between one belonging to a geeky puzzle builder and a dispatch radio operator.

why shouldn't their be a God with a funny bone?? I always thought that line about peter being the rock was, if it was actually said, Jesus's way of saying Peter was as thick as a rock since he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
PS If Jesus does return I hope it's ONLY on The Daily Show:-)

*aham*, in intelligent design, we say "designers" and put "God" in parentheses after an "ie."
So, "to make the leap to having the designer (ie, God) having a sense of humor?"
---
They're, "space quotes."

Robin Williams brought this up in a routine and I would tend to agree... but, I still think that "leap" is illogical.

I think it's pretty arbitrary to assume our sense of humor has anything to do with anything objective. Maybe I don't think platipi are funny, huh, ever think about that!?!? Jeez...
