I can't help but notice that a large number of the worlds problems are cause by conflicts in relation to religious views.

Do you think if everyone was either Athiest or Agnostic that the world would be a much happier place?

Some examples I can think of:

Terrorism - Islamic extremists

Hatred towards gays etc...as their behaviour is seen as wrong (stemed religiously).

These weird american religious channels...which just seem an extortionate way to brain wash people and take their money.

Slavery - there was also slavery of white people in the middle east, not just the africans!

I can't really be bothered to write more...but chip in with some examples if you like!

The world would be a better place if there was more altruism, wisdom, compassion and patient, kind speech/writing.

No the world would be much worse off. Religion gives people something to believe in and hope for the future. The religious fanatics that u r talking about aren't stable anyway and if it wasn't religion that the Christian channels were trying to brainwash people with it would be someting else. Game shows-make people greedy, reality shows- make people more disatisfied with their life than they are already. All of the bad things that have came from religion have ultimately all had a lesson behind them. We would be lost without religion. All religion.

NO..the world would be better if there was no murder..no adultery..no "sick" people molesting innocent children, no greed, no jealousy, no hatred and the list could go on and on...people seem to think that religion is the problem, but it is not MOST people who live by a religion live by a moral code and try to keep themselves in check BUT there is a disease in every person...it is SIN, that is the problem and ALL people sin...there is only ONE solution to the problem A NEW HEART and turning from wickedness....that would have to happen in everyone. But it won't..it is possible because all have the same gift of salvation but few accept it.

Moving millions of Muslims into the west before they have built Islam into a great place to live was a mistake

No. I don't believe that would help us. I believe it's our differences that make us strive towards being better humans. Especially our religious differences. Do I wish my ancestors hadn't been slaughtered because of their beliefs? Of course. But wiping out religion altogether would mean they would have died in vain. No, religion is one of the things that makes us human. I may disagree with ALOT of religions, but that is the whole point. I can.

I think it would be a much better place without evil.

There is way to many bad things that happen from people who are Atheists or non-believers to go with this line of thinking.

No, I truly don't think it would be a better place. The big improvement would come if everybody practiced his/her religion, quit judging others, and lived as if they were the only one who had to answer to God. You've heard of Satan, well this is exactly how he operates. So, if you're looking for a quick fix to the problems of the world - you're not going to find them.

If it isn't religion, conflicts will be over countries, races, anything else.

Religion should be the cause of unity, which is why I'm baffled.

We don't need religion. We need a relationship with God. Then the world would be a better place.

Religion is the opiate of the masses. -H.L. Menken. There is a lot of truth in that. Sure there is a lot of bad to see. But there is a lot more good.
