You are probably a lukewarm Catholic, not a bad one. The Catholic church does not teach us to turn our back on or judge people, but it does teach us what mortal sin is and warns us that these sins could lead us to the terrible reality of eternal fire (hell). Abortion is murder of a human being in the mother's womb, homosexuality a terrible sin. You must love everyone but not necessarily accept their sins as being okay.
Remember Christ loved everyone but did not hesitate to speak out loud and clear against sin and where it could lead a soul. Christ condemned the sin and not the sinner. When He rescued the adulterous woman from a stoning crowd He did not tell her that what she did was okay and that she had a right to live the way she wanted. He forgave her and asked her to give up her life of sin.
Study your rich faith and dont ever feel you should not be Catholic. God Bless!

well let me tell you something there have been at least 2 priests that are gay (seriously) so according to them, no gay is fine, but thinking being gay is not wrong then you would be a bad christian, because God did not intend for 2 people of the same gender to be together. He created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Just by not supporting them doesn't mean not loving them, just don't accept that being gay is okay. There are several things in the Bible that says homosexuality is wrong. Maybe if you read the Bible you would know that, but I guess you don't. I would suggest you do though, I do as much as I can and I learn a lot and I'm still only 14. I'm really strong in my Christian faith and continue to be that way.

Everything about the Church is love. She comes from Christ Who is love. When it comes to gay people, we are to love and respect them no differently that anyone else. What we have to be against is homosexual sin (sex). Any form of sex outside of the marriage bond is sinful, whether its fornication, adultery, masturbation, etc., heterosexual or homosexual. Check out this link: http://www.catholic.org/views/views_news.php?id=22970&pid=0
Marriage is sacramental and is meant for a man and a woman. It was not designed for two men and two women. Marriage is a celebration of the covenant bond between man, woman, and God. See that? There are THREE people involved in the covenant, not two. Also, life must be able to spring forth from the union. That cannot happen between two men or two women.
You’re right that we cannot tell anyone how to live their lives. If someone wants to have an abortion, that’s between them and God, however, it is my Christian duty to do whatever I can to help them not do that. Abortion is murder, and we already know we’d do everything we could to stop a murder.
The Church doesn’t tell anyone to turn their back and judge another. We must love one another as Christ loves us. This does not mean, however, that we are to condone or tolerate sinful behavior. We should never do that. Remember, it is the sin we must hate, not the person. We need to pray for each other and be there for one another. If we don’t, we can’t call ourselves Christian.
God bless.

It doesn't make you a bad Catholic...it makes you a protestant. You cannot be Catholic (truly) and be pro-choice. It's impossible.
If you say you are Catholic then you are saying you agree with the teachings of the Church. These teachings include that abortion is murder and that homosexuality is a sin. That said, if you do not agree with the teachings of the Church...you cannot call yourself a member of the Church.
Martin Luther did not agree with the teachings of the Church...he started the protestant reformation. That is what you are doing with your belief...you are protesting the teachings of the church.
You need to research your faith and understand why the church teaches what it does. There are beautiful and loving reasons that the Church teaches what it does. All based in the scripture and tradition of the Church.
Go to http://www.catholic.com they have forums and you can ask questions there. They have many people that participate and are knowledgeable in the meanings of the teachings of the Church.

It makes you a misguided and spiritually unhealthy Catholic, poisoned and confused by the secular propaganda of our pagan society.
Homosexuals can't get married "like anyone else" because such an arrangement contradicts the definition of marriage. This isn't some kind of "rule" the Church has. It is simply impossible, like cows flying. If the Church, or the state, gave cows "permission" to fly, they still wouldn't be able to do so, because flying contradicts the definition of "cow".
Abortion isn't about how someone "leads their life". It is about whether or not the life of another person gets destroyed. If you have to kill someone else in order to lead your life as you wish, then obviously that is not anyone's "right".

It may not make you a good catholic from the church perspective, but it makes you a great human being, and I think thats what Jesus was all about. Even as a catholic you have the right of your own conscience and after all thats what is important what you think and feel. Carry on.

Technically if you go against the position of the Catholic Church, you're a "bad Catholic", but I don't think you are. My mother also doesn't universally agree with the official church positions but she's a good Catholic, goes to mass every Sunday and goes to an hour of silent prayer every Tuesday.

Well to say that there is nothing wrong with being gay is to say that God is wrong.
Romans 1:24-27 "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet."
The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin.
Abortion is the murdering of innocent lives the bible is also clear on this
Exodus 21:22 "If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. "
Our role as believers is to tell people of their sin and that they need Jesus Christ to help them overcome this sin and be forgiven. Yes Jesus is full of love, but he is also just and punishes sin. If sin had no punishment than it is the same as saying that it is ok to do it. We are not instructed to turn our back on or judge anybody but to pray for them and show them the way to Christ.
Remember there is no sin too great that it can not be forgiven by the blood of Jesus.
As far as whether you are a bad or good Catholic. Well the bible says that none of us are good.
Romans 3:23 “ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Thank God that being good is not what gets you into Heaven.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “ For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man boast.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Believing on Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed to get into Heaven.
God Bless You and keep studying the Word.

It is true that Jesus Christs teachings are about love.
Now , do you think that for one second, your parents could have raised you without ever telling you that you were wrong, or punishing you when you did wrong?
Jesus Christ loved and corrected in his short ministry on earth. He would have told the acting homosexual to stop and sin no more. That would leave no room for marriage now would it.
Love with out correction and discipline is selfishness and loss of control of ones self.

Don't worry, the Catholic church will probably change their dogma in a few decades to update it for modern life.
Also, keep in mind that 200 years ago the Church taught that the fetus wasn't alive until the mother could feel it kick.
