The first article is about the so called "Christian Civic League" and how they ran a smear campaign against a politician because they found out that her religion was Pagan. The part that bothers me, is that they invite people to post comments on their website. They state that e-mail addy is required but will not be published, yet if you look at their comments section, they DO publish the e-mail addy's of anyone who disagrees with the site. Is it right for them to lie this way. They scrubbed the comments off the article harassing the Pagan Politician, but the second article about a "Dyke Parade" has a comments section also. Those who oppose the Dyke parade have their privacy respected, those who support the Dyke parade have their e-mail addy published. I added comment #12 just a few miniutes ago w/a fake addy. I wonder if they will publish my fake addy ?

A few minutes ago, I asked a question desiring people to put how literally they take the bible on a scale of 1 to 10. Would there be any benefit to society if these results were printed on our drivers’ licenses or social security cards so that a person’s degree of religiosity could be quickly ascertained?

he's all-knowing, right? he knew they were gonna do it, and he put it there anyway. to me this says, he WANTED them to eat from it.

if that's the case, why punish them for doing what he wanted them to do?

additionally, let's say he didn't really want them to? then why put it there in the first place? to test them? what's the point? he's god, he already knew what the outcome would be. so why bother?

I'm not going to type the verses because I don't like to type he hath thou and all of that, but if it is the word of god would such a book have so many contradictions such as saying prejudice is evil then being prejudice angainst homosexuals is good? so wouldn't that mean the bible is saying it itself is evil?

I have seen many western movies. Many cowboys make marks on the arses of horses.

What is the official name of the mark?

And what about the tool, which looks like a hot pontil?

Do the horses feel painful?

He says to fear him and threatens anyone who doesn't do what he says with eternal torture. If you were a parent would you want your children to fear you- would you disown them and wish eternal misery on them if they didn't do what you said? How can you say that God loves us if he is willing to sentence us to a lifetime of misery just because we dared to disobey him? You say people do it to themselves- I don't agree. No one would knowingly sentence themself to eternal suffering. We can't know everything. So what if we are wrong and it turns out there is a God- innocent mistake. Is it really worth condemning us to hell for the rest of eternity? What about having the punishment fit the crime? And if you do believe that not accepting God will result in going to hell, that's fine, its what you believe. But call it what it is- admit that God is a cruel bloodthirsty tyrant. How can you possibly see him as a loving paternal figure when he is so quick to wish misery on his own children?

-He did nothing to save the Jews from Hitler, or Mao's or Stalin's victims.
-He did nothing to stop the Inquisition.
-He does nothing to save millions of children who die every year of starvation-related causes.
-He does nothing to stop the killing in Darfur.
-And on and on.

Christians say, "It is up to US to make the world a better place."

If we have to do everything ourselves, what good is god?

He finds you a parking place and your car keys? He helps you pass tests? He comforts you while babies are being raped in Africa?

I am an atheist( Former christian), 17 years old, and I feel sooooo much happier now being an atheist. I turned to atheism a year ago when I realized that god was a fairy tale and that christianity is a big con game. I am appalled that my family wanted me to believe in all of that. I am able to do the things I want to do without having to say to myself 1. This is a sin 2. God will put me in hell if I do this!!! It feels GREAT to be atheist. My question is for all of those atheists out there, are you a former christian? And are you happy being atheist?
