Christianity DOES meld pagan beliefs/holidays/icons into it's own. Christmas-- the birth of jesus-- is just a few days off of Yule. (the Yule tree is what the christians adopted the christmas tree from). Easter is based on the spring equinox known as Ostara, which is the celebration of fertility and the coming of spring (how do you go from celebrating the rise of a savior to chasing a rabbit around for eggs? Because the easter bunny and eggs represent FERTILITY), the triquetra, symbol of the three forms of the Goddess, has been adopted by the Gideons and put on literally thousands of bibles. Even the "cross" is derived from the pagan Celts Solar Cross, and the Horned God, also known as Jack-of-the-Green, has effigies in dozens of mid evil churches. Christianity adopted what it wanted from the pagan way of life, then tried to destroy the evidence.

Constantine was a pagan conquering ruler. Constantine controlled the lands of the Christians/Hebrews. He stopped the tortures and the persecutions of the Christians/Hebrews. He believed in many gods the chief of them being Zeus. He publicly attested to his new Christian beliefs, and his government posture about tolerance of Christians' rights to believe in their Almighty God attested to this, but he still practiced paganism privately.
Christians/Hebrews were a conquered land of people. They were NOT ruling their own lands. They were in no position to deny or allow anything, but despite the rulers demands or edicts, the risks & the dangers Christians continued to believe and worship Almighty God and refused to deny Him regardless the penalty.
Constantine did not penalize them for their different beliefs.

Paganism had a shed load more political power than most historians willingly give it credit for. I don't know about around the world, but in England St. days fall on Pagan holidays that were established, prior to Christianity really even hitting Europe. There are so many signs, that whilst it was no longer the most powerful religion in the area (Politically) it wasn't to be messed around with lightly.

The Catholic church did this to make Christianity more pallet able for the pagans. Why do you think we have Christmas trees, this is left over from the druids.
And true Christianity does not make paganism a bedfellow,
That is what Paul on Mars hill was talking about, knowing the true God who was unknown to the Pagans.

I don't think the Christians accepted it, it was the pagans who did. All of Christianity was copied from earlier pagan beliefs. It was easier to convert pagans that way. They whole thing was set up to convert pagans to Christianity.

Can you give a ferinstance? According to Scripture, the Church can NOT be overcome by the gates of Hell. I think you're stretchin' the truth just a hair.

Christianity has a lot of pagan ties. Christmas, easter, etc. If they didn't accept paganism, it'd almost be like shutting down a part of their own belief system. :O

because of the fact maximum of those early Christians *have been* pagans first of all. that they had no reason to burn their acquaintances after their very very own conversion -- why would desire to they? case in point, the Scots and Irish tailored their beforehand invocations into Christian prayers for each little thing from baking bread to smooring the hearth at nighttime. they did not would desire to get all flustered with the aid of the hot faith: that they were around long adequate to take what they needed from the previous and adapt it to the hot. That became beforehand the days of iron-fisted clergy, notwithstanding, who insisted that issues ought to easily be finished one way -- their way. because of the fact the prepared Church gained political ability, they clamped down on most of the older practices. yet even then, the previous human beings clung to their very very own traditions, despite in the event that they had to be a touch sneakier approximately them. this is why we nonetheless have issues like jack o'lanterns and advantages for animals. The previous techniques would have been pressured underground or replaced until eventually they're only approximately previous all spotting. . .yet they're nonetheless there. you only would desire to appreciate the place to look.
