-He did nothing to save the Jews from Hitler, or Mao's or Stalin's victims.
-He did nothing to stop the Inquisition.
-He does nothing to save millions of children who die every year of starvation-related causes.
-He does nothing to stop the killing in Darfur.
-And on and on.

Christians say, "It is up to US to make the world a better place."

If we have to do everything ourselves, what good is god?

He finds you a parking place and your car keys? He helps you pass tests? He comforts you while babies are being raped in Africa?

We NEED murders, rape, and torture to be nice to each other?

Only a theist could come up with an answer so stupid and dehumanizing.

Aloha 'Mom',

You hit the nail on the head. That explains why so many of the bible worshipers got so easily offended by your harmless yet astute question. The more we peel back the veneer of the cult of Jesus the more defensive and offended they become.

I too came to your same conclusion - that they and their god have dehumanized us all - when I asked a similar question yesterday. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsqhnWGpS64dpwRqSeSDj5vty6IX?qid=20070629134916AAgpgRg

Unfortunately, they are too indoctrinated in the religion of hate to realize what they have become. They have forsaken their humanity and sold their soul for the promise of immortality, which is itself an immorality. It's time for a global intervention.

OK, Now replace God with *MOM* or your real name.
What have you done to Stop any of the above?
Why is it that people think that when things get REALLY BAD, it's All Gods fault and none of their own?
OK, So every day I live with a medical condition, in which I had a brother die from 11 months ago...I don't sit here and Judge an Almighty and Everlasting God, because I have a Condition in which the Drs can do nothing about....
Jesus Christ took the CROSS and being perfectly Holy and Good died a Horrible Death to that ALL that call upon His name can be saved.....In my Life time and I am only 44 I have had two Life and Death expeirences.....My thought is Why is it that people don't point the finger at the True Killer, satan!!!!!
It was satan that did ALL that you mentioned above, not God the Father Almighty!
People chose to go to a bar and get Drunk, get into a car and drive off, later killing someone, is that Gods Fault?????
How Logical is that type of thinking?
Every day I Pray and I KNOW it helps....
I already know how good My God is, your still breathing, so is your next door neighbor, and so am I....So today a terrorists didn't Bomb our Nation....Today I was able to get something in my stomach to eat, so GOD provided.....Every day is a Blessing, and every day should be treated as though it could be your last, because for those you mentioned it was their final moment....But you know what, MANY of those who died are rejoicing with a Mighty God in Heaven as I write this, WHY would I say this, because SOME of my Family is no longer here, YES there is a Mighty God and I love Him more than Anything.....You can go to bed tonight knowing that HE is answering Millions of peoples prayers......

Salvation is for whosoever will. What did the Jews do to Jesus?
The bible says that he was marred more than any man.
He was beat beyond recognition and made to carry a cross that he was nailed to and bled to death for you. He also bled to death for the world.

All of his deciples except John were killed in a variety of ways by governing authorities.
Satan still has access to God and that is the cause for the worlds sufferings. Because mankind has listened to Satan more than God, God gave man what he wanted. So Satan is the cause for all the suffering.

You hear of all the bad things in the world for that is all the news ever prints of reports on, you do not hear of all the souls that Jesus is saving world wide or all the miracles that are taking place all over the world. More miracles happen in Africa that just about anywhere because they accept Jesus and his word and get all that God has for them.

Does this mean that these people will never suffer heartache? Of corse not. When we are weak God makes us stronger.

I know that you may never believe what I say but the first thing you should do is to think of your own soul. I have gotton mad at God for the very things that you have said, but I see what Jesus is doing in my life and I know that he will avenge all that is done to the world when he comes back to rule and reign.
And he will not be a suffering servant in those days, he will rule with absolute authority!

He gave us free will. Hitler and many other use theirs for evil. If all of the people in the world that could afford to help others would do so, we would not have starvation. God is not raping and murdering, humans do; and I suspect that those that do, do not have a relationship with God. What good is God? MMM let me see, LIFE, THE EARTH THE SKYS THE SEAS, AND EVERYTHING IN THEM, all good things come from God. I also know that I came closer to God, because of problems, pain , worries , etc. So maybe they have a purpose also. If you think physical life is horrible, you ask what good is God, How about Heaven and eternal happiness and peace. This life will seem short in comparison, and I believe our true rewards for faith in God, and our savior Jesus Christ is going to be after death, in the place that God has ready for us! God gives me hope, God answers prayers, God is good.

actually there is more to be said about How many jews God did save from Hitler. a few six million jews may not be a bad thing. Withholding His protection, (God) from the US 911 wtc terrorist attack, could be said that thougha few people died, NONE in america are innocent. but yet many people are saved on a continuing cycle.
and dont even go to the african babies being raped. !! just this month, a 17 year old was prosecuted for raping a baby, he was caught and is in prison while waiting trial.
as much as athiests profess there is no God because of their own personal failing, I have always proclaimed my witness that there is a God, despite my failings.

I was sexually abused as a child, and I sought God out to be the Father I did not have when I was around 4...I needed Him, and He honored my requests that He teach me to read His Book and teach me about it. He did.

He intervened on my behalf too many times to count....and He has been a loving Father no matter what I have done.

If you are curious about why I feel as I do, read some of my other answers in my profile.....

The main reason Jesus wanted us to go out and preach God's Word is so that everyone would have a chance to meet He and His Father and the Holy Spirit so more people could have what I myself had had....and have.

But, everyone must make their own choice....and for the right reason's.....None of us can or should force someone to love us....and that is how God feels about it too.

Peace be with you :)

**I just want to say how much I could feel the Holy Spirit as I read all of the blessed answers of my brothers and sisters in Christ! I am humbled and blessed by this...Bless you all! :)

If you do not study the word of God enough to know the truths and attributes of God, then probably little or none. If you read enough of the Bible to know that the perfect will of God is not done here on earth, then you may gain a little understanding. If you read further, and come to know that the reason that God's perfect will is not done here is because of man's rebellion and hatred of all things holy, you would gain a little more. If you studied further, and learned that due to the rebellion and hatred of man, that this world has become enslaved to Satan, perhaps you would then know enough to place the blame for the evil in this world at the feet of Satan, where it belongs, instead of at the feet of God.
If you kept on with your studies of the Word, and realized that only through prayer and worship through Jesus Christ, can you have a relationship of any kind with God, and you would maybe know that those people and societies that suffer these things have rejected God's Son, and His way.
Surely you cannot expect God to intercede for someone that rejects Christ, and His sacrifice, can you? God does protect and keep His flock, but for those that reject His way, He turns His back to them, and allows evil to thrive among them, and if they are a very evil society, perhaps even turns His wrath upon them, as He has done repeatedly with the children of Israel, or jews, if you prefer. They are His chosen people, buit He is a jealous and vengeful God, and will punish his children for their disobedience.

Either way, God's ways are God's ways. Not man's ways. You are not His judge, He is yours.

Absolutely!!! It used to be whatever extra formal, but I used to speak to Him some thing the motive and considering the fact that I stored ahead to my possess ambition and wants, whilst He gave me avertisements I stored none and did my means going into increasingly trubles! Into an finish, inside a deep depresion, He stored my existence (!!!) the very moment I left away of all my deep wants... There, empty middle, I used to be stuffed with God's Light and Peace and Love - a whole New LIFE, a brand new frame, a New Vision over the beyond and the long run :) :) :) Yes, He is my Saviour!!!

God is not a separate being, aloof, standing off somewhere watching his creation, that he made at arm's length, as they commit atrocities...no, God is the sum of all consciousness, and greater than that sum. Creation is not a past event, followed by more events, along a linear "time", stretching into an uncertain future, but is NOW. This means that we ARE as created, in this perfect instant, this spacious present, that thus can never change.

We are whole, perfect, created as one with God. But we became afraid, and a mad thought came to us, and we fell into sleep, and we dream of a world full of the horrors you listed, and more. But it IS a dream. We remain within God, alive, safe, at peace. We cannot leave our true home, where we create wonders with "Him". No one real has ever been harmed..."Nothing real can be threatened." We are one beloved "Son" of God, dreaming he is not his Father's child, but a poor lowly creature who must "live" only to die. "Nothing unreal exists." We are gods whose sleep was but the blink of an eye, and was gone. "Herein lies the peace of God." --All quotes are from A Course In Miracles. As a whole, it looks like this:

"Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God."

turn off the shrill screeching, gf...it's soooo counterproductive to intelligent discussions.

1. are there jews alive and thriving today and did any of those evil guys (who are dead, btw) win?

2. is there still an inquisition going on today? is the catholic church enjoying the power it had back then?

3. is there absolutely no christian groups or organizations (among the many, including the secular) that are working around the clock to save these children? (could it be that selfish whiners like you are reluctant to part with their starbucks coffee money?)

4. up until last summer the world responded with one of the biggest aid programs ever. because of human beings, that got derailed. but currently, there are discussions going on about stepping in and just using force to stop the madness...sorry but it's not a decision that can be made lightly just because you are ticked off about it. God is working with the decision-makers and hopefully they will listen to Him!

so stop putting your spin on our efforts, you selfish hypocrite. you are so quick to whine and cry and say God is no good, AND then put down Christians for all that they do to help.

it IS up to us to make the world a better place because through us (Christians), God's enormous love for the world is made manifest.
