Question to believers.
It has been noted in the medical field that there are explanations for religious experiences: abnormalities in the temporal lobe
It has also been noted that you can induce out of body experiences by stimulating the right angular gyrus
the cause of near death experiences: hypoxia

Could it be that the god stuff is all in your head?

and a spiritual atheist believe in mediums, incense, & meditation for spiritual guidance, than what the heck am I?

I always thought I was an agnostic atheist. The more I read, however, the more I realize that I do not believe one of the strong tenets of agnosticism - that I cannot prove the experience of a god or gods. This is not how I think. I am absolutely certain that there are no gods. Burden of proof doesn't even come into play. Different energies, yes, but no gods. I cannot prove the existence of Spiderman but I don't believe in him whatsoever because I know he doesn't exist because of logic and not burden of proof. I do believe in a collective, universal energy in nature that, far beyond the measure of science and mathematics.

What would this be called, if I was called on to explain my beliefs in an abbreviated fashion?

Thanks all! This would really help me out in regard to telling others who I am on a more spiritual level.

The second that you say something that questions their religion or beliefs, the Christian mafia reports you. Why is that?

In these rooms I have noticed that there are some people that are so adimate about completly bashing the Christian faith. Now I do not agree with trying to pursuade people to believe what I believe. I feel like what I believe is great or else I would not believe it. But when I see people showing so much disrespect to the Christian faith it makes me wonder. What is the biggest deciding factor out there.

I know there are a lot of overboard zelots, but does that just contradict every single person. I had a friend that was Muslim. He was an awesome guy, and we asked each other questions all the time, but I do not relate him with the terrorists of 911. I still do not agree with his religion but I did not beat him up for it.

So what is the deal?

Creationists claim dating methods are flawed when arguing against evolution and fossil finds, as well as other archeological disciplines. Below are a few of the accepted methods of dating used in science.

AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) Radiocarbon Dating
Archaeomagnetic Dating
C14-L
Cal-Pal
Chronological Analysis
Dendrochronology
Fluoride Dating
Luminescence Dating
Mean Ceramic Date
Obsidian Hydration Analysis
Oxidizable Carbon Ratio Dating
Paleomagnetic Dating
Potassium-Argon Dating
Racemization Dating
Seriation

Would creationists please:
1) Outline the flaws in each method..?
2) Explain why these independant methods all corroborate with each other..?
3) Is there a chance you have been spoon fed incorrect representations about modern mainstream science, specifically regarding flawed dating methods in this instance..?

These are direct and fair questions, so answer accordingly if you are able..

If "God" made the world in 7 days or whatever and Adam and Eve were the first beings then why is there evidence of millions of years of life (dinosaurs, sharks, frogs, and so on...) before humans?

With any religion I mean.

I babysit my neighbor's five year old grandson who goes to Christian school. He loves telling me about what he's learned.

He was just telling me that Moses was a very bad man. "He broke the ten commandments! God says you can't do that, but he did! He just threw them down and smashed them up!"

No man, angel or even God pushes a relationship with Christ on you in this relm. It really is a matter of choice. Your love is the ONLY thing that you or I posses that we can offer the creator of ALL things. Everything seen and unseen belongs to him.
Why do you think it is so difficult to come to him? The worlds wisdom is a sham it can't make people young again or bring back the dead. I am only a voice crying out in the darkness of this world. When The Lord does appear and He will you will have no excuse saying, 'No one made a strong enough or long enough appeal'. You could say I'm looking out for your best interest.

In America around the turn-of-the-century, some religious adults were so against masturbation that they forced their daughters to wear gloves made of a steel-wool-like material (like Brillo pads) at night and to put a powder on their genitals that made them painful to touch. They made their sons wear metal chastity belts at night that made it painful to have an erection. During the 1820s, some parents prevented male masturbation by piecing the foreskin with a wire and soldering the ends together. Boys and girls were discouraged from masturbation by the threat of blindness, madness and illness.

Why does this nonsense (to a lesser degree) continue?

Do YOU masturbate?
I went to a church with my religious dad once and the preacher said that masturbation within a marriage is the exact same thing as cheating... what?

Answer these questions in the following order:

1. Whould you rather, die for a friend who's done nothing for you or Have a friend die for you when you have done nothing for them?

Have a friend die for you when you have done nothing for them?
Its already happened. Jesus died for you on a cross. And you did nothing for him.

"Although our Dear Lord did no sin, he died for us when we had given unto him nothing." - Mother Theresa

Ok let's focus in the word "Eternity"

there's a Good principle here for example:

the universe is infinity in space.
Do you believe that this world will last forever?
Do you really believe that the human raze will last forever?

So if the word Eternity is wrong from the Spiritual/natural standpoint for many of you. Why do we have it in the dictionary! Why do we use it?

God is eternal!

In addition, he has promised us that we will have eternal life!

Think about before this world came to existence!

There was no time right?
So how do you explain "time" if there was no time before us!

The answer = eternity!

There must be a high power and I know by this, that there is a God!

....Christian fundamentalists. If liberal and moderate Christians fail to curtail their extremest bretheren, the Christian faith will be relegated to the dust-bin of history, along with countless other obsolete mythologies.

It is a well known logical truth that it is impossible to prove a negative assertion (evolution is not true). Attempting to discredit the theory of evolution is utterly futile and seriously reduces Christianity's creditability. For two thousand continuous years the rest of humanity has endured Christianity's lunatic fringe, who have always proclaimed that their times were the end-times and that Armageddon was just around the corner. Human civilization has developed far beyond the need for such irrational apocalypse fantasies. It is time for those Christians who know how to think properly to step up to the podium and explain why Christianity deserves to be part of humanity's future.

Often, I see posts on here that make me think that people refuse to believe in God because he doesn't get involved in every detail. "If God was real, why doesn't he stop..."

I'm going to use some examples here.
I think about a recent video game that came out where a person could become a God. If that God did everything for everyone, then the people became lazy and expected God to them and to get them out of problems.

Do you feel that for God to be worshipped or to even exist, he must satisfactorily answer every single prayer that is uttered, or that he must pull miracles out of of his magic hat in order to believe in him? If he doesn't, then he's not worthy of respect?

Yesterday's battle with P&S was so fun. We were fighting eachother, some dude comes in to challenge us and we unite to bug the heck out of them. Atheists, christians, jews, muslims- all worked together to basically spam their board with bran muffins and baseball.

No here we are, less then 24 hours later fighting again. such a shame. I look at all of us fighters in a new light, I will never give you a thumbs down (no matter how weird your answer is)
