I do think the "religious" christian zealots make it impossible for the true christians to get a break. A soft answer turns away wrath. I wish they would get a clue that their method is not working and making us all look bad. They throw out hell and damnation and act like they are perfect and everyone else is dung. It is too bad that we all have to be wrapped up in the same package so to speak. Also, many people think christians are methodist, lutheran, LDS, JW, mennonites, catholics etc etc. They don't realize that Christians are Christians. People who have accepted Jesus into their lives and adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ. There is a huge difference between religious and Christian. They will know that we are Christians by our LOVE. God is the ultimate judge not us.

The Catholic Encyclopedia states Bible is Skeptic and Concocted
A. THE FORMATION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON (A.D. 100-220)
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03274a.htm
The idea of a complete and clear-cut canon of the New Testament existing from the beginning, that is from Apostolic times, has no foundation in history. The Canon of the New Testament, like that of the Old, is the result of a development, of a process at once stimulated by disputes with doubters, both within and without the Church, and retarded by certain obscurities and natural hesitations, and which did not reach its final term until the dogmatic definition of the Tridentine Council. ("Canon of the New Testament")
There is a lot of confusion about the earliest existing texts of the Bible. The oldest extant manuscript of the Bible is believed to be the Codex Vaticanus, (preserved in the Vatican Library), which is slightly older than the Codex Sinaiticus (preserved in the British Library), both of which were transcribed in the fourth century.
As for the story of Jesus, there were at least 50 gospels written in the first and second century CE. Four of them (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) were included in the official canon during the fourth century CE and are found today in every Bible. All of the original copies of the gospels were lost. What we have now are handwritten copies, which are an unknown number of replications removed from the originals.
Rudolf Bultmann, a prominent 20th-century professor of New Testament studies writes about the life of Jesus:
We can now know almost nothing concerning the life and personality of Jesus, since the early Christian sources show no interest in either, are moreover fragmentary and often legendary; and other sources about Jesus do not exist. (Bultmann 8)
Example of Confliction in Bible
II Samuel 8:4 (vs) II Samuel 8:9-10 II Kings 8:26
II Samuel 6:23 Genesis 6:3 John 5:37
John 5:31 I Chronicles 18:4 I Chronicles 18:9-10
II Chronicles 22:2 II Samuel 21:8 Genesis 9:29
John 14:9 John 8:14

You are lucky to be able to connect personally with a true Muslim faithful, not a radical. You can put a personal face on the faith and see it for what it really is, not what we are force fed by the so-called "liberal" media. So you can see that REAL followers of the Koran are righteous and kind. Much like REAL Christians. (Even though the ones we see on TV are almost exclusively hypocrites)
Many people have not been given the gift you have received in meeting someone who represents what is true about their faith. Not someone who subverts and rapes their religion for their own selfish purposes (Bin Laden and Bush, anyone? Two peas in a pod as far as using religion to further their cause goes. I am only using them as an example...there are many, many people out there from ALL walks of life that do this. No one is immune.)
It is easy to hate and fear what we don't know. We don't know those people on TV. You are so lucky to have met someone who enriches your life and expands your mind.
I wish that could happen to everyone.
My best to you, dear!

Many people question the inerrancy of the Bible (whether or not is is truly accurate and the word of God). They question this because, ever since the Bible came about, almost spontaneously various and numerous versions and editions were created, and many changes were made to the original Bible. Many believe that parts of the Bible that revealed violent or ugly verses were replaced, deleted and/or editted to not make it sound like the Bible had anything non-peaceful in it. Many of the authors of the many versions and editions of the Bible included their own opinions and interperetations and replaced tacit verses with ones that people would rather like to read instead of what was really meant for them. The Bible has also been changed for the sake of converting more people to the religion. Many editors of the Bible also exxagerated or fabricated information to attract non-Christians to convert. This unlawful, cheating way of conversion does not sound too appealing to the very few people who know this, and many people find this method corrupt. Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the world, and not one word of the Koran has been changed. In other words, Christianity sometimes converts through lies and distorted truths, whereas Islam only converts people through only truth, and the popular idea of "convert-or-die" is actually NOT practiced by Muslims as the Media has forced many people to believe.
I commend you for not judging your Muslim friend based on 9/11. You are one of the few who seems to understand. After all, such terrorism is NOT tolerated in Islam, and those "honor killings" you see on television or bombings and such are all exaggerated and distorted by the Media, trust me. When you say "I still do not agree with his religion", I assume you mean that you do not agree with every religion but your own, as this is natural for everybody. Because the attacks on 9/11 were indeed forbidden actions in Islam, so "his religion" despised the attacks as well.
Sorry if this sounded a bit offensive, but I was just trying to answer your question. Thank you.

Witnessing
Being told your wrong
Being told your going to hell
Being told you have no morals
Being told your gods are demons or false
Having the same bible quote thrown at you over and over again
Are all Christians like that? Of course not. But those are the ones that sit back and watch what the world is really about. Its the crazy zealots that make you all look bad.

I will only lash out if I've been lashed at first. The Christian people at their core are good well meaning people...but they are human and are no better than me. The problem for me sometimes is many tend to be self righteous, judgemental etc. I have no problem with other people believing differently than I do. It's when I'm told I'm going to hell, I'm a sinner, evil etc. I'm a good person, and I guess it strikes a nerve within me to be told I'm not for no other reason than my lack of belief in God.

Christians represents the largest religion in the west.
For anyone of western background who has issues with religion they are primarily going to level their focus on Christianity.
Why is this so surprising to you?

Because most of the people on YA are English speaking. If most of them were Chinese-speaking then Buddhism would have been attracting criticism. If most were Hindu-speaking, then Hinduism would have been accumulating criticism. If most were Muslims, then Islam would have been drawing criticism. It's a relative thing.

Do you not know that Jesus is the stone of offens (Isaiah)? and that he himself said, "I did not come to bring (superficial and nicey-nice) peace, but families will be divided against (an individual's stance) upon me." Either approve what I said, or approve the treatment I received in degenerate Man's hands.
