Dear Lemming Princess,

Thank you for calling attention to verses I often reference.

I would like to point out first that God is ALWAYS right when He speaks. There is absolutely NO IF about it.

Think about the fact that the warning God gave to the Israelites before they ever took up residence in Israel is every bit as important today as it was then. God is awesome and He is trustworthy to provide for our needs. We NEED to be able to discern who is speaking God's Word and who is not.

Country Girl said "How many people have made announcements that the world would end on a certain day and it didn't happen?" but then did not make reference to the organization that is most guilty of False Prophecy in modern times. That is the Watchtower which has given numerous specific dates for Armageddon.

For His glory,
JOYfilled

The verses clearly state that if it is the word of God it will come to pass. If it is someone that says they are speaking on Gods behalf from their own mind-it will not come to pass. How many people have made announcements that the world would end on a certain day and it didn't happen? Those people dissappear into obscurity as soon as the day comes and the world continues as always. Many cults ( Moonies, Jim Jones's group etc) come about because people believe the leader is speaking for God. It is only after they are thoroughly brainwashed that the truth about the group is revealed. We must be very careful to seek the truth when anyone claims to be passing on a direct message from God.
Matthew 24:23 and 24 Then if anyone says to you "behold, here is Christ" or "There He is." do not believe him.
For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

The problem doesn't really lie with "Was it God speaking in the first place?" The problem comes in trying to understand the mind of God.

Everyone that God has called, except Jesus, was a man or a woman and was simply human. Like most humans, they might have had a problem translating the prophecy that God spoke to them.

Consider this: God says, "Tap the rock with your staff," and the prophet hits it hard. Did God really say it, or was it simple mistranslation?

Apparently, the Biblical prophets were right on the money and got it right. Modern Prophets often have trouble seeing past the here and now, and seeing into the future. They usually put their own discrimination of things.

>> Nope... just someone with an agenda...

>> As for name-calling when someone asks a question, that's called Ad hominem in the rules of debate... attacking the questioner to evade the argument.

"Many are called, but few are chosen." Some presume to speak for God, when in reality, they speak only for themselves. It is for the hearer to determine by asking for a confirmation of what has been said from the Spirit.

They are deceiver out there....

That why you have the Holy Bible, if you hear someone say something that don't line up with the Bible, then you should consider what they said, and what kinda person they are.

Jesus came not to change the Laws ( Commandments) but to furfill them.

You can know a person by their fruit (actions or deeds)

Moises... if you would just examine the Watchtower with the same scrutiny that you are giving the questioner... you just might find the truth.
