If so many Protestants say that Catholics aren't Christians is Christianity still the world's largest religion? They'd drop down to a little over one billion if you don't count the billion Catholics. that would make Islam the world's biggest religion with Catholics second and then the Christians..

If we read how God created man in Genesis 2 does this show man is created in God's image?

How to live a holy life? How to worship Jesus? How does the revelation of the Apocrypha writings *change* what I do now as a Christian living for God?

How can I be sure these writings are truly inspired by God?

Like, “What does a Mormon believe?”
Or, “What do Buddhists believe?”

Does this bother anyone else? I mean, it’s not like you could write down the answers to these questions to in a few minutes in the little answer box. Aren’t these questions a little inappropriate and much better to ask in a Google search engine? I once saw a guy ask a question like this and the COMPLAIN when the answers were “too long”.

Reminder of the Question: Do you think it is a bad idea to come on to R&S and ask overly broad questions about religions? Is it just lazy?

That is what the bible tells me to do.

I know this is the R&S section & that I'm an atheist who's probably looking for help in the wrong place, but I would appreciate answers that didn't involve "tell her that the Lord will be her strength and solace". I'm asking here because I know people here, because they might be willing to give me advice. I've never been good at handling bereavement & I don't want to be a total schlub to my Mom, so I'm looking to my online friends for any advice I can get.

If you can, tell me how you did it.

If you can't, then how do you expect me to choose to believe in God?

Science is not perfect. I agree with this. It is not the be all and end all of the world. However my argument is that Science is the most functional and applicable "doctrine" available today. It provides the most hope for the human race moving forward and allows us to predict outcomes in realistic time frames. Alot of theist rag on science saying its not perfect and they are right. However my question again. Science isn't perfect but isn't it the best we got?

I grew up in a Christian neighborhood but i have agnostic parents. Religion was never a issue in my family so i wanted to join the church to find god and be with my friends. I really tried to believe in god. I couldn't do it. I am just not wired that way. Can we really choose our beliefs?

Smelyakov and Karpenko artificially divided the Long Count calendar in 12 intervals that decrease in length by means of the Golden Mean ratio, the Auric Time Scale series. The separation epochs of these 12 time intervals are: 3114 BC, 1146 BC, 71 AD, 823, 1287, 1547, 1752, 1861, 1929, 1971, 1997, 2012. These dates were called the bifurcation points of the Auric Time Scale.

The epochs that were found quite perfectly seemed to correlate with:

Clustering of global natural cataclysms such as severe Earthquakes, volcanic activity, space phenomena such as supernovas.

Islam means the "Voluntary submission of ones will to the will of Allah".

If the "voluntary" part is taken out then their conversion is NULL and VOID.

Since there was no chance for equality and human rights being given to non Jews so was violence the only alternative after 40 years of brutal occupation ?

30 years of peaceful efforts FAILED in all aspects.

When I announced the death of my son nearly every christian came out to lecture me about Jesus.

Not one asked whether I was Christian.

Not one asked about my beliefs.

It seems they all thought this a good time to 'educate' me about Christianity.

But when I respond to these ham-fisted attempts to convert me, I'm told I'm too distraught and too upset to be speaking poorly of Christianity and those who tried to convert me.

So I'm upset enough for you to think this a good time to convert me, but too upset if I refuse to be converted?

Why must you insult those who are firm in their own beliefs and refuse to be converted by you?

Why must you insult those whose beliefs you trample during their time of grief?

Why do you seek to take advantage of grief to convert another, like vultures pecking at a wounded lion, yet run away when you discover the lion is not so wounded as to permit you to continue?

Why worship a god who drowned babies and butterflies (Genesis 6, 7)?

Please read this short article before answering: http://groups.msn.com/MysticForestofProtection/christianmagick.msnw

Personally, I completely agree with the author, but I am interested in what others think, and their response to this article. Please don't base your opinions solely on what is said in the bible. What do YOU think?
