The Qur'an mentions Mary more than the Bible does. There is also a lot about Jesus. Are you not at all interested to read any of it? Here is some:

'And (remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns) (of her lifetime)."

'O Mary! "Submit yourself with obedience to your Lord (Allah, by worshipping none but Him Alone) and prostrate yourself, and Irka'i (bow down etc.) along with Ar-Raki'un (those who bow down etc.)."

'This is a part of the news of the Ghaib (unseen, i.e. the news of the past nations of which you have no knowledge) which We inspire you with (O Muhammad SAW). You were not with them, when they cast lots with their pens as to which of them should be charged with the care of Maryam (Mary); nor were you with them when they disputed.'

Atheists et al., do you have way down deep inside of you an appreciation for any sort of spirituality? I ask because I am a nonbeliever but I am also interested in Native American and other deeply "spiritual" beliefs. And, too, are you a Dick Cheney Republican who depends on the Fox Network for most of your "news"?

would he care about us?

Every Christian will say god is omniscient, omnipresent, and all other weird omni words. If this is so he is EVERYWHERE and EVERYTHING he is past human emotions such as love he wouldn't have need of such a thing, if god had unlimited power then he wouldn't have anything to do, he'd be bored for eternity, he wouldn't have a cause if he had everything already. Also since he is everything he is the hell people talk about and yes he is even the devil, he is not a being he is simply EVERYTHING...I just caught myself calling it a he, sorry about that, again my point omniessence (if that be a word) can't have a sex either, so just call it it or god.

So there, the bible claims he is omni this and omni that, yet mentions these things like hell where the punishment is surpossedly being burned alot and being away from god, which again conflicts with his nature as IT IS EVERYTHING AND EVERYWHERE.

oh..right, back the the question, why would this everything have care

I was just thinking today that this is kind of unique, isn't it? To define yourself in terms of what you do not believe.

Would you be interested in a word that described you more in terms of how you DO view the world? Perhaps a word that describes how you acquire knowledge. I'm thinking something like Empiricist, but I am not sure what all else that implies.

If so, what word would you suggest?

I am a Christian looking to find a church. I am having trouble finding a church that fits me! I like the liturgy and structure of the Lutheran and Episcopalian churches, but I am against gay marriage and I see these churches headed that way. I am not anti-gay, just anti-gay marriage. However, I have found that some (not all) evangelical churches are very closed minded toward other christian religions and I see no need for this. I've actually had Baptists friends tell Catholic friends they are not Christian and are going to hell. I've also had Baptist friends say gay people are going to hell, which I feel is wrong. I feel we are all Christians, no need to persecute each other!

What denomination should I try to join? I've visited so many churches, and just can' t find a good fit. What do you think?

Okay, my story: I've been masturbating ever since i was six years old and my cousin showed me how to. I didn't know it was wrong, I just liked how it felt. One of my friends did it too. I would do it to help me get to sleep, every night, and it somehow worked. When I learned about sex, though, when I was older, I started to understand the connection between the two and I was like 'maybe this isn't so good...' so i tried to stop. But I couldn't. I had an addiction to it, and every night if I tried to stop I would have a hard time getting to sleep without wearing myself down from masturbation and I would have an intense craving to start up again. It was terrible. I couldn't stand it, so I started again.
I now beleive things such as sex outside of marriage and looking at porn is wrong. I want other christians to tell me how they feel about masturbation and if they have done any bible study about it. I have done a little, and found little in the bible about masturbation.
Please help.

We are told that God loves everyone. So why would this all powerful, loving God create 'Hell'? Why wouldn't he just save everyone in the end?

And we're told that Jesus died for our sins. He defeated sin and death, didn't he? So shouldn't that mean that there is no possibility of hell for anyone, as Christ has already many the sacrifice for us?

Why would an all powerful and loving creator not just prevent us from going anywhere but heaven in the end? He could do this, couldn't He? So why wouldn't He?
