The type of thinking I mean is based on what I perceive as the point where intelligent people leave behind rationality and succumb to delusional thinking. In other words, there are some brilliant, intelligent, well educated theists out there, but at SOME POINT, they set aside critical thinking, and "give in" to the "god-didit" answer.

What is that point?

Witnessing a "miracle"? What is a miracle? For some it's watching an accident victim be revived. However, most doctors & EMT's don't consider this a miracle.

Is it a tape recorder? Take one to King Arthur's court and you've performed a miracle (or witchcraft!)

Is it magic? Some people believe Chris Angel REALLY can fly, just like Jesus did.

Would it be if the earth stopped spinning? Impossible given our current level of science and physics, but what if a highly advanced alien species had such gravitational control? It's theoretically possible.

So at what point is critical thought "overloaded" leaving god as the explanation?

this is 100% true story, I eye witnessed it, it did not happen at a revival or faith healing service, but in a motel room;
My brother who was 15 at the time , got struck on the front of his leg (the Shin) with a broom.
A blood clot the size of a Lime was bulging out on his leg, he showed it to my Mom who almost fainted at the sight.
She fell to her Knees laid hands on it and Prayed to God to heal him, she kept saying over and over, "in Jesus Name".
everytime she lifted her hand up the lump would get smaller, I stuck my hand on it between my moms hand and brothers leg, the heat was very intense. We could hear a crackling noise , smaller and smaller till my brother srcreamed, stop "mom my legs gonna cave in"
My dad made her take him to a DR. the next morning, the DR. comfirmed it "was" a blood clot, gave her some long name for it. He was astounded at the healing.
No one can ever convince me God is not real I seen him move and work first hand.
So explain this if there is no God?

Frequently when I have gone to answer a serious question about Christianity, I see snide comments that don't address the issue. Is this because people fear that they may stumble onto truth?

when it comes to politics and other world affairs?

*** Rbi8 John 18:36 ***

Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.”

John 18:36

I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them, because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

John 17:14

They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

During those moments of transcendence, did the Buddha and the Christ communicate with each other? If there are perspectives outside of time as we know it, is it possible that the past and the future can exchange information from these viewpoints? What are the implications?
Any thoughts on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to express your sympathy and love.

I've never seen a question get such a response, and I am touched beyond words ... thank you.

What happened? My son was taken from me in an accident. Let it go at that.

Why tell you? I live in a rural area. What friends and family I have, have been taking care of me through the day. When I finally got home, I needed to share with the only "community" I can call my own: Y!A R&S.

I am aware that there are many who have wished I'd shut up with my questions. But I also know there are many here whom I have touched and who have touched me.

My 'question' was the easiest way for me to reach them all: those I know and those I do not know.

There are times when I'm lucid, like now, and times when I'm a wreck.

I hold on to what my mother told me today: that she's never known a more loving father. Considering how much I respect my father, that is high praise.

I gave my son the best I could: my love.

A 'real' Christian to me is one who can recognize that even if the Bible is the word of God it was written by the hands of men and thus can be mistaken. A 'real' Christian is one who believes in the salvation of Jesus but doesn't refuse to educate themselves scientifically. This sort of person is tolerant and kind to all persons and would never call someone an "abomination" unless they had committed some sort of horrible crime.

How 'bout you?

What do you think the message here is and do you have friends that "fit the bill"?

1 John 5:7-8 "For there are three that bear witness in hevean: the Father (GOD), the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Sprirt; and these three are one"
in the NIV explain that this verse is not found in ancient scriptures (Apostle John didn´t wrote that)

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20john%205:8;&version=31;
.
That verse is in the KJV.

Have you ever think that quoting that verse is like you are lying saying " the bible says"
