Frequently when I have gone to answer a serious question about Christianity, I see snide comments that don't address the issue. Is this because people fear that they may stumble onto truth?

People just have things they are anxious to say. They want to attack and get their opinions out whenever they can, even when it is totally inappropriate. One should not answer a question that is addressed specifically to Christians if one cannot supply a Christian answer. And they certainly shouldn't "answer" it by trying to push Atheism down the Asker's throat.

This is a problem when it comes to any belief. Whether it be religion, life on other planets, magic, whatever. It is because for so long the churches have made such a big deal over biblical issues and SOME actually force their believes on you and now people are sick of it and are standing up against it. When it comes to the less mainstreamed side of things(aliens, bigfoot) people are ridiculed for even thinking such a thing, yet majority of ppl believe in a God who you cannot see and ancient transcripts that differ depending on who is telling the story. Some ppl may be scared, some do it out of retaliation and some ppl just do it because they don't believe in it. We should all just agree to disagree and not fight over who is right, wrong or different.

It depends on the question ,sometimes "christians" comments are valid and intelligent .When they're not ,yes ,they do tend to get attacked out of fear. Fear of absolute stupidity and the effect it may have on others!

I don't know. A Christian has to be humble, and part of that humility is listening to your accusers. They may be right. It's the same with people who live with you. Sanctimonious people are very difficult to live with. Holier-than-thou attitudes are not right. But I think I've seen a few answers that are just full of derision for innocent questions that did nothing to deserve it. I cannot understand such viciousness.

i'm not sure. but it annoys me. if they don't believe in God or christianity (or whatever religion may be in question) then fine but they need to keep it to their self. don't sit there and tell someone there is no such thing etc. i don't' understand why people who don't believe sit there and attack people who do. it's just dumb. i've actually answered questions of people who's beliefs are opposite with out attacking them why can't they give the same respect? but i think people who are truly that angry towards people who have faith and beliefs must somewhere deep down have some form of question themselves or they wouldn't be so belligerent.

The only 'questions' I attack are those supporting Creationism and those obviouslly preaching.

The Creationism questions are out of fear - fear that the agenda of the question setter is to return us to an age where knowledge and science are destroyed because of mythology.

a person who read the Bible and understood it will never be frightened they might stumble onto truth. And you dont really need to go beyond Chapter 1 to see that God is far more sophisticated than that.

Quick, stab her with pins.

No. Are the Christians who act the same in reverse doing the same because they are afraid they might hear the truth from us? Is this what you secretly are trying to tell us?

Quite often I see that on Pagan related topics as well. Do you think Christians do it out of fear?
