Darwin was merely the first person that suggested that life develops though natural selection.

He did not develop evolution. That was done by thousands of Biologists over the past 100 years.
Darwin did not know that all mammals on earth have three bones in their ear
He did not know that Humans share over 95% of our DNA with most primates
He did not know about the Temporal fenestra, which groups us in the same Class as Dinosaurs and other reptiles.
He had no clue about amniotic egg, which is a biological function that allows all land animals to give birth on land, instead of in water like Amphibians and fish.

I could go on, but he had nothing to do with this. This was all documented in the past century. Much of it in the past 20 years.

According to the Gallup poll, 1/3 of Americans believe that the Bible is literally the word of god and should be taken literally word for word. How does this make you feel? Personally it makes me scared that the world could be filled with such ignorance.

Evolution does exist, and to say it does not shows tremendous ignorance to scientific evidence. Not only does it exist, but after a general understanding of genetics and simple reasoning, it's obvious. Not only is it obvious, but evidence in the form of fossils, comparitive anatomy, embriology, etc is overwhelming. It is "only a theory," but so is all of science, and a theory is HEAVILY BACKED explanation that has withstood time. Evolution is FACT among the scientific community, who do a poor job of communicating to the general public.

I have nothing against Christianity. But just because a book says everything was created in six days does not mean it was literally created in six days. And evolution does not oppose religion.

So my questions is why. Why do so many people (more than half of Americans) disagree with evolution, and embrace its pseudoscience alternatives - creationism and Intelligent Design? Are they stupid, or have they been poorly educated about the topic?

I am from Europe and I am hearing in the news that there is a "battle'' going on in USA about whether the theory of evolution is ok to be taught in schools. I don't understand. Isn't school suppose to teach science and church to teach religion? Don't people want to believe in God not because of luck of information and ignorance but because they choose to believe?

If the land really does is in fact belong to Israel and it will be returned to Israel because God said so, show us how much faith you really have. We believe so strongly in our God that we'll just let Palestine have the land and put all of our trust and faith in our Lord. Wouldn't that be the true test of faith in God?

My husband and I are having a debate about something. He told me a real man's job is to sit o nthe couch all day while the woman cleaned. I told him a real man's job is to take care of his woman. I remember reading a verse as a child saying that woman did indeed take care of the husband but so did the husband. I told him it said it in the bible but he doesn't believe me. Am I going bonkers? Or does it say something like that in the bible? If so can you show me the verse? He hasn't helped clean the house since we've been married!

Deuteronomy 18:18
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Gospel of Barnabas
Chapter 220
Jesus answered: 'Believe me, Barnabas, that every sin, however small it be, God punishes with great punishment, seeing that God is offended at sin. Wherefore, since my mother and my faithful disciples that were with me loved me a little with earthly love, the righteous God has willed to punish this love with the present grief, in order that it may not be punished in the flames of hell.

A church where the high preists are those who allow us to see, through the window of science and intellect, that which is truely deep and miraculous to understand. It would be a preisthood based on understanding....on mathematics, virtue, intuition, and intellectual pursuit.

People would rise in the way of a meritocracy....based on merits of community principles (virtues) and great character, intellect, knowledge/ wisdom, and hard-work.

People would do things simply on the responsibility that they carry due to their particular abilities, no recognition given to any one in particular.

The joys would simply be to explore and partake the job by which their expertise/passion has lead them. In turn, they would advise those not on their fields about what to do concerning things relating to their fields.

The bible is just one book among many that claim to be "the way." It's not special because one can recite from it and say it's god's word. Anyone can quote from the Rig-Vedas, the Koran, or the legends of ancient Sumer and claim they are the true word of god. Numerous people claim they have spoken to god, some have been believed and some have been called insane. Do you have proof Jesus is the one, the only one, to believe? How do you anybody has talked to, or been sent by, god? How do you know god hasn't talked to or sent many messengers? How do you know god didn't send Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, and scores of others as a gift? Maybe they all carry his word so everyone can find their way to him/her/it.
Any bible quotes cited as proof of Christianity's being "the one true religion" will be duly ignored. Along with quotes being used in the same manner from other religious texts.

I've been studying Catholicism for a little over two years. If anyone asks my religion, I simply say "Catholic", because I find that I relate most to that religion.

I am VERY serious about converting (not because of marriage, or anything. I just relate most to it and want to be a part of it.)

The church nearest me is of small to medium attendence. (Roughly 100 people every Sunday)

I've called and left a message with the secretary, and I've also emailed the Parish. Still, it's been a long time, and nobody replies to me by phone or mail.

Any ideas? The next nearest Catholic church is about 20 miles away, and I wouldn't make it to their services. So it would feel odd converting there and going somewhere else.
