Realistically, All peoples belief in the word of God, Be it The Koran, The Bible, The Book of Mormon, are deep rooted in what they have read, studied, been taught by their parents.
What they are taught by their parents are not usually what they base their faith on. Rebellion starts at the teen years and they do their own independence of soul searching and studies and life experiences.
It surprises me as it does a great many, that there are so many narrow minded people on the web that belittles and badmouths anyone who has a firm hold on what they believe, no matter which religion they practice. I believe that everyone has a right to believe and express their views as they see fit. So in summary Each person is responsible to themselves as to which Book, or Religion they follow.
I myself believe that the Bible is the Inspired man written word of God.
So God bless everyone in the fashion that they believe in.

The Bible is not only the collections of the Words of GOD. The koran and Book of Hadith, the Buddha book are all the Words of GOD. It is so as Mohammad is a Prophet of the Muslim peoples and Buddha too is a Prophet of enlightened among his peoples. On one hand, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is also the Prophet among the Jews and the Christians although HE is the highest among the Prophets and is titled THE ALFA AND THE OMEGA. In the history of Mohammad, he was taken up to heaven in the spirit by Archangel Gabriel. And in an assembly in heaven he saw THE LORD JESUS CHRIST sitting at the right hand of GOD while Mohammad and the others stayed with the audience. And also, Mohammad prophesied in the 2nd Book of the Moslem called THE BOOK OF HADITH that the LORD JESUS CHRIST will come again the 2nd time and will teach the world Islam which means obedience to GOD. In these two events that transpired, Mohammad became a true witness to the divinity of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. However, the Moslem leaders and also the Jews are made blind to the divinity of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST because their is a veil among nations. Their eyes willl made to see this divine truth only in the 2nd coming of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

I am an old fossil. I have made my spiritual 'trip' with the Moody Blues, on their quest of the different world's religions. I have pretty much went through all of them, all the while denying Christianity. For a long time, I was convinced that the universe is a vast expanse of nothingness, and we were a cosmic accident.
Many have said 'I am a way' to peace or enlightenment. Jesus said: "I am THE way".
Call me a fruitcake. I have prayed to many 'gods', the only one who actually answered back was Jesus. It was like getting hit with a bolt of lightning. Many people follow the 'quiet voice' to Christ. He might as well have been screaming in my ear.
There is no doubt that God revealed himself to others before the Bible was compiled. They have been lost to history.
I am convinced that the Bible is the true guide to the correct path to God. Read it and study it with an open mind and open heart.

True there are many different religions claiming to be the truth. The question is the core of their message. We find significant similarities among all major religions regarding moral behavior. If this itself was sufficient, the story is concluded. Yet Christianity speaks of something unique among all religions. It speaks of salvation not in terms of human action, but of God's action. Christianity argues there is nothing within the individual acceptable before God, and God had to prepare the way to God self only through the actions of God.
Though we find significant wisdom in other religions, Christianity is the only religion that argues God made a way where there was no way. The very significance of ths fact is sufficient to warrant further investigation.

The bible doesn't claim to be the way, but Jesus said he is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Why should you believe him? Check the history. He is the last known descendant of David to have a claim to the kingship of Israel. Also, his birth, life and death fulfilled over 40 prophesies of the old testament. If it were only one or two prophesies, then maybe someone could claim coincidence or hoax, but over 40 is hard to ignore. But the real question is do you believe or not. No one can make you believe if you don't want to. Everyone has free will to decide for himself or herself what to believe, just as we have free will to decide how we live. Just keep in mind that free will doesn't mean there are no consequences, in this life, or the next.

No proof is available. Basically the Christians believe the Bible is the word of God because it says so.
The "prophecies" that are most ofen cited were frequently written down only after the fact, or were sufficiently vague to be attributable to just about anything. In the case of Jesus, it is very likely that his followers simply invented details about him to try to fit him into the image of the Jewish Messiah. Since the first writings about Jesus were written more than forty years after his execution, it is quite liekly that a great deal of confabulation inflated his original story.

theres more thans in the Bible, its impossible to think that the only cannonized books can be the ones we have now, this doesnt take into account the histories of other peoples. besides john gave us a little insight in John 21:25
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."
of course true faith will only get you there. jesus taught people to believe.

"Any bible quotes cited as proof of Christianity's being "the one true religion" will be duly ignored. Along with quotes being used in the same manner from other religious texts."
Then what's the point of arguing if you are going to ignore every attempt at faith? All you really want is people with your same ideas to answer and give you a thumbs up and pat your back.

Actually, we're NOT sure. We just take it by faith.
There are other scriptures, such as The Gnostic Gospels, The Books of Adam and Eve, The Book of Jubilees, The Book of Enoch (which was left out of the Bibles because it was "too old.") So, yes, there are others, but the Bible is the 'only one' we can be 100% sure of!
