A. "The non-existance of proof is not the proof of non-existance."

B. "For the true believer, no evidence is needed. For the true skeptick, no evidence is good enough."

C. Does it matter anyways? Fact and Truth are two very different things. I can speak Truth without ever uttering fact. That is the point of philosophy.

If you just take that part of the Bible the virgin birth does seem implausible.

But taking the Bible as a whole (you read it all I'm sure)
we get a much broader picture. The reason why God used a virgin, how it is that God is the father of the Christ, the prophecies concerning the time and place and manner of his birth, when he would be killed, how he would be killed and even why. There is a whole lot more to the story.

When you have learned the whole story seen the big picture maybe then you might be able to see that a virgin birth is really not that big of a deal, but even necessary.

Proof? There is nothing that can be proved unless we are willing to consider the evidence and then accept it.

It's disrespectful and ignorant to refer to the Bible as fairytales. You should at least afford a book that has been around over 2000 years some respect as literature. I don't worry about proving that Jesus had no father, or whether or not Mary was a virgin. My faith has nothing to do with those things. I believe Jesus lived and taught that God is concerned with justice for the poor and oppressed, and that loving God and loving neighbor are the basis of the faith life.

The fact is one can get pregnant without having intercourse and still a virgin. Science has prove that. If people can do it, why not god? And Jesus is not a god

Through faith and reason.

God needs to be born with the Virgin Mother in order to be human. But being God, Jesus can never be created.

Nope. No evidence of such a claim exists. There is therefore no reason to believe it.

Edit: For the folks who say that we can't prove it wasn't true: Prove that I don't have an invisible dragon in my garage. You can't. The burden of evidence lies on me to back up my claim of said dragon. The same goes for you and the virgin birth. Do you have any evidence outside of the say-so of your book that Jesus had no father and his mother was a virgin?

I thought not.

Although lack of proof is never a reason to believe, can you prove the opposite without resorting to hearsay and theory?

If that ever happened, it was a LONG time ago. What the hell kind of proof could there possibly be? A hand-written note from Mary saying "yeah, totally a virgin"?

So no, no one can.

And if someone after me says "Faith"... ugh....
