What if you died and the religion you followed all your life was the wrong one?

Do you think God should allow you in heaven for all your past deeds or condem you in hell for eternity for worshipping the wrong God?

Please dont answer, " i know in my heart of hearts that my religion is true bla bla bla....."

This is a "What if" question.

Lorraine: Christian God? What the hell are you talking about?

2007-05-29 19:13:34 · update #2

Lorraine: FYI, other religions beside Christianity also believes in eternity in hell for denying God.

The question basically is, Does religion really matter if you have lived a good and respectfull life?

Lorraine: Do you not understand the concept of "WHAT IF"?

this question had nothing to do with any one religion, it's just a what if question.

Lorraine:OMG, there is just no pleasing you is there?

WHAT IF there is a heaven and hell?
WHAT IF you worshiped the wrong God all your life?
WHAT IF some people actually understood a WHAT IF question?

2007-05-29 19:41:17 · update #5

Lorrain: It was just an innocent question with no kind of bashing to any religion.
I'm sorry if you misunderstood my question.

You can't ask this question and bring the Christian God into it as fact. Ask yourself 'what if' and then get back to us.

I was referring to this:

"Do you think God should allow you in heaven for all your past deeds or condem you in hell for eternity for worshipping the wrong God?"

God and Heaven is clearly reference to the Christian God. However, if this is not your intention then just ignore my comment. But I just don't understand what that has to do with the question if you aren't trying to state the must-existence of the Christian God.

well, that may be...but not all religions do just as well. So why single out the ones that don't? By mentioning a heaven, you are automatically saying that religions who believe in no afterlife spiritual plain are wrong.

Then WHY have you made a SPECIFIC mention to a concept of God and Heaven?

You misunderstand my criticism. As a regular, you know that a lot of times Christians will post questions that are like 'What if you are wrong and there is a heaven and a god yadayadayada' which really is just a stab that 'Christianity is right, believe in anything else and BURN'. By coming out and specifically mentioning something akin to a question like that, it puts up a flag to me. What if there is a heaven and hell, well why not also mention what if there isn't? I'm sorry if it looks biased to me...don't let me rambling bother you so much, I'm only one person :)

As most religions teach the same core principles--the "Golden Rule" in all of it's forms being the biggie--you should be Okay. If you have lived according to that idea of "Do unto others..." or "Love thy neighbor..." or any of the other ways it is put by numerous faiths, then--if God is in fact a fair and good God--you should be admitted into heaven.

The rest of it is a matter of Dogma. Surely a great God is better than to let club membership be a factor.

For those who were following the wrong religion and never had the opportunity to choose the right one, God will allow them to be resurrected and taught the right way. Then they must decide for themselves if they want to accept what they have been taught. This is referred to as the resurrection of the unrighteous(Acts 24:15)
For those who now know the religion to follow and deliberately refuse to do so, they receive the punishment of death. There is no resurrection for them(Romans 6:23; Ecclesiastes 9:5,10) The resurrected unrighteous, as well as the righteous ones who refuse to live according to God's standards will also eternally die.

Every religion is a wrong one, because we say that we believe in God with our heart and soul but we continue to harm the planet, the animals and we do bad things to as too...! When God says that we must believe in Him, He didn't say that we have the power to change the things like we want, we change the things like He wants. When we die we will find the true about everything.........Please watch this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvnZ9jZpZ8c&mode=related&search=

God is not going to condemn anyone to hell for following a religion they sincerely believed was right.

With all the religions you odds of being right isn't good. So I think God accepts everyone who lead a good life. And understand he made us with flaws.

Then I'm screwed.

Anyway, I should be in hell for not thinking straight and follow blindly without questions. God gives us brain to think. If we don't want to think then might as well be monkeys.

it isnt the religion, religion is mans forms of worshipping god. god allows to enter his kingdom those who accept jesus christ as the only begotten son of god born of the virgin mary, crucified and rose again to save all the lost . god does not require religion. he requires your love and repentence and acceptence of his son. simple

They'll have the chance to express their love for Christ. Sadly, dying is what it'll take for some people to finally admit that He is Lord. And what's even more saddening, is that people will still deny Him even after they've met Him face-to-face.
