When ever a fundamentalist Christian talks religion, they say, with no hesitation, and no proof that god wrote it all, and therefore it is true.
Why don't some of these people ever ask where that holy book really came from, and how it came about, and where those stories really came from?

Last time I checked there were hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of views on religion and spirituality. In fact, you could say that there is a different view for every person on the planet. Isn't it sad and more than a little bit irritating that two loud, disrespectful and seemingly stupid groups dominate this forum with constant bickering, name calling and bashing? Wouldn't it be interesting if a variety of views could be explored without the tired atheist vs christian rants?
I think the really strict atheists are often just as puritanical and narrow minded as many Christians. The people that are really worth hearing get drowned out by the idiots too often. If this were a respectful and intelligent forum you could hear from lots of people who aren't so insecure as to need to cling to a strictly defined, narrow set of ideas and defend and attack from that standpoint like a frightened animal. What do YOU think?

I have a paperclip. This would be great way to spread the faith. Magic and all that.

Don't feel singled out. I plan on putting every mythological belief system to this same test.

You can't see air or the wind..but you can see the results when the wind blows right? What if someone said I don't believe in air or wind..wouldn't that seems just as foolish? Neither can you see gravity..but again you see the results of it.

So what are the results of God? 66 books called the Bible
So taking the Bible at face value, the very first line in Genesis 1:1, it says in the beginning God created heaven and earth.

Moses wrote Genesis so try telling a Jew that Moses is a liar or he never existed. And while youre at it tell them the Holocaust didnt exist either.

The only thing that has been historically, archaeologically, and prophetically proven time and time again is the writing of the prophets/the Scriptures/the Bible. You cant argue with history, archealogy or prophecy...God's book has the proof to prove that he indeed exists..whether you can see him or not and whether you believe it or not.

I mean, it doesn’t encourage it but it definitely does place the concept of such an unnatural act in the minds of people. Sure, it’s not only people from Christian countries who kill their children but do these stories serve a purpose? What is the point of having such ridiculous and barbaric writings in a book that is apparently a moral code by which we all should live?

Are a heathen and a pagan the same thing? I mean, they said that a pagan was a follower of a nature religion, but then someone used the word heathen and I don't want to use it incorrectly.

And, also, is it okay to say "magic" or is that disrespectful and you need to say "magick" instead? The k looks funny to me, but I could probably get used to it. Or are they the same thing and it's just a preference thing?

(Sorry for all the questions today. I'm up to three already!)

The Creation Museum is a hot topic today. With it, the pseudoscience that is Intelligent Design.

Some Christians love ID as it appears to be a scientific explanation for what is written in the bible.

There is a huge difference between a Christian who is a legitimate scientist and performs legitimate science in his/her chosen field of specialty and a Christian who attempts to validate and justify his/her own religious beliefs by selectively picking and choosing pseudoscientific theories.

ID is NOT good science.

I certainly don't mind religious people performing good science with a solid hypothesis with the intention of determining the truth. Hell, the father of modern genetics, Gregor Mendel, was a monk!

Our problem is when religious people fake science to justify their beliefs. It would be akin to Richard Dawkins rewriting The Selfish Gene using thou's and thy's and expecting it to be treated as a religious text supporting the selfish gene theory!

Your thoughts?

You want to go to heaven? Then stop creating HELL on Earth. We can all use a little bit more of Love for one another than YOUR god is giving to anybody right now!

If you believe in going to church on Sunday's this is for you.

Okay in the bible it says to goto church every first day of the week. In the new testimate.

Now If I choose to go to church every Sunday ONCE, is that wrong?

And if I choose to not goto church on TUESDAY NIGHTS for bible study is that wrong?

I was told that if the preacher has set a time for Sunday night and Tuesday night I am SUPPOSED TO GO or else it is wrong.

Is this true and what does the bible say about this.

Thanks.

I posted this here because there was more than one question using this information and I didn't want to answer each question with the link. I am curious where the statistics came from because when I searched government links regarding the breakdown of the prison population, I could not find anything specifically regarding religious beliefs. Then I came across this link.
If anyone has other information regarding statistical information please add because I think this is an interesting topic and I would like to know what the numbers actually are.
Thanks.

Yea so I find it pretty irritating when someone says
"oh, you're Mormon?"
"You arent a Christian"
"you Worship Joseph Smith"
"You worship satan"
"you arent allowed to read the Bible"
"You have a false Idol"
"You think works get you into heaven"
and sooo many more, which by the way.. arent true! well i feel better now that i got that out of my system!

wait no i have more... its other religions too! If you know someone is a specific religion its very rude to tell them what they believe.. Im sure they know better than anyone else what they believe! ok im done =]

Example: wiccans believe that you can rub a rock, and transfer your positive energy into the rock. and then you can give this rock to someone, and this individual will have the influence of your positive energy.

1) the physical properties of any stone are such that any energy (heat) a stone can take in will only make it hot. and the heat wears off once it is removed from the heat's source.

2) how the hell does the stone know whether the "energy" is positive or negative? since when did stones become intelligent organisms?

you get my point. any of your "spells" and "magick" simply cannot be backed up by science. if it is backed up by real science, it's called "medicine."

i don't see how any intellegent person can consider being a wiccan. it seems to be a fad with loser hippies.
