Experience is not what happens to a (hu)man. It is what a (hu)man does with what happens to him.

I hope I'm not going anytime soon but it is something we all must face. I don't want to be in a metal box. I don't want chemicals replacing my blood. I don't want to be burned in an industrial oven. I'd be fine with a pine box in the ground but don't think they let you do that anymore. What other options are there? Legal ones...don't want my family to be in jail just for geting rid of some rotting flesh!! Thanks.

Are there any churches that actually teach Christian history, outside of what is in the Bible? I have been reading about Christian history, and find it very fascinating, and I find it explains a lot of things. I think it could enrich the life of a Christian to understand his or her own history. What do you think?

If it turned out that all the passages in the Bible that condemn HOMOsexuality had been mistranslated, and we learned that the Bible actually condemns HETEROsexuality...

...would you be capable of abstaining from heterosexual sex for the rest of your life?

I keep seeing Christians say that homosexuals might be born that way, but they still have a choice to abstain, and they make it sound pretty easy. I know I couldn't give up sex for the rest of my life just to please god, but I'm wondering if you could?

When people in the "Pregnancy" section of Y!A talk about their *baby*, asking questions about it's development in utero, etc... and then turn around and argue that it's not a human baby, it's a fetus or a clump of tissue?
I'm not dissing pregnant mothers... just mad at the hypocrisy.

What about other books? Do Muslims not think for themselves because they believe the Koran? Do Confucianists not think for themselves because they believe the writings of Confucius? Do Jews not think for themselves because they believe the Talmud and the Torah? Do atheists not think for themselves if they believe Darwin's "On the Origin of Species and the Preservation of Favored Races" or other such books that teach evolution? Darwin was a racist. He lived in the 1800's so that shouldn't surprise anyone. Besides books that are known to be fictional because the authors said they were, which books, if you believe them, qualify you as someone who doesn't think for himself or herself? Just curious.

As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you. -Deuteronomy 20:10-14

How about this then:
A nervous wreck, a mischief maker, a fascist, a baby hater, a lover of Moses and other ancient queers, and a reviler of free will -- who doesn't exist?

"Christ has no body now, but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth, but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which
Christ looks compassion into the world.
Yours are the feet
with which Christ walks to do good.
Yours are the hands
with which Christ blesses the world."

Let nothing trouble you,
let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
He who possesses God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

I work with a lot of kids and with autism some with aspergers.
I always got the impression that people with aspergers would have a really hard time with having a belief in God as they generally think in contexts of black and white and usually process things literally rather than figurativly.
I ran across this site that had a couple of polls
Belief in God was at 33% No belief 66%
56% said the world would be better without religion, 32% said no and 10% undecided.
What I am wondering is.. Aspergers is a defined neurological disorder. These people are functional in society and lead good lives but maybe can not grasps the idea of God.
How would God view these people? They have heard but possibly cant believe.
Also what are your thoughts? Makes me wonder if there is a connection between belief in God and neurological processes as many on the site say they can not "comprehend" believing in a god and thats how I feel for the most part.

Many of the stories serve absolutely no purpose and can only possibly serve to cause harm in today's society. So why can’t we edit them out? We edit gruesome movies and video games if they’re too much of a bad influence; why is the bible immune to the same standards?

In other words, she thinks it's ok to be attracted to the same sex, but acting on it is when it becomes a sin. I was taught, and I know, I should find out by studying myself, that if you think about it, it is just as bad as doing it, in God's eyes. But then, how can you control what your mind thinks from moment to moment. Help!

-Christmas and Easter is a pagen holiday yet Christians celebrate it. I have done this all my life because my parents have done it. Now I fear that it is wrong! :(

What are some contradictions people make when they talk about the bible?

If you have any that you feel, comment.

Thanks!

Explain to me the purpose of any supernatural belief system that can't move a freakin paper clip. Every religion claims its own miracles and magic. You ask them to step up and they punk out.

Always excuses. Christians, muslims, all of them can't get their god to move one paperclip and prove that the magic is real.

Why is that?
