If it turned out that all the passages in the Bible that condemn HOMOsexuality had been mistranslated, and we learned that the Bible actually condemns HETEROsexuality...

...would you be capable of abstaining from heterosexual sex for the rest of your life?

I keep seeing Christians say that homosexuals might be born that way, but they still have a choice to abstain, and they make it sound pretty easy. I know I couldn't give up sex for the rest of my life just to please god, but I'm wondering if you could?

Apparently people can't answer hypothetical questions.

If you are strong in your faith and it is unwavering then you could. At least i could, although it would be difficult.
I am a vegetarian and have no problem not eating flesh foods. It was difficult at first but now after so long it is just not something i do. It isn't an option in my life. I'd say the first year is the most difficult with giving up something that others tell us is a necessity of life.
Depends on what kind of life you want and what kind of legacy you want to leave behind.

Of course, if the bible hypothetical you presented became reality then there would be no children and future generations unless there were sinners who went against the bible and had hetero-sex. I'm sure there would be some though because none of us is perfect (myself included) only the evidence would be more obvious.

hmm let's look at this.. the main question is could you abstain from any kind of sex if your faith in God called for it? I would certainly try with daily prayer. For homosexuals, the Bible and God is not asking you to abstain from sex. It's asking you to have sex with the opposite partner. It's your choice. And on another note, God does ask Christians to abstain from sex before marriage and to seek the mate that is right for you. If you never found that mate...you should still be a virgin. I applaud the older virgins out there that did stick to their faith. I was never taught this as a young girl and didn't know the value of saving yourself for your husband, but I have since prayed to God and confessed my sins. There are many older virgins out there. Just do a search and you'll see blogs and newspaper titles of older virgins. And I don't see homosexuals as born that way...it is a choice and one that you must have faith in God in to rectify yourself and follow what He wants. Acknowledging that you are a sinner (in any matter), confessing your sins, and asking for forgiveness because you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins will shed a large burden from you, and will make the rest of your christian walk bearable and fruitful.

First off, it plainly reads that a woman's body is for natural use by a man. As for a man, it plainly reads that homosexuals left the natural use of their bodies to lie one man with another, working that which is unseemly.

It's all laid out in black and white. "THOU SHALT NOT LIE WITH MANKIND AS WITH WOMANKIND, IT IS ABOMINATION." Leviticus 19:22

That's about as plain as it gets. How could you think that it would turn out the other way around? Even so, unless you are married, you are not to have sexual relations with someone. It is called fornication unless you are married to your sex partner, and it is a sin.

As for you not being able to abstain from it, you either will or will not obey God. Those who do will be rewarded. Those that do not will be punished. Period.

One more thing. God never created a homosexual. The man or woman chooses that life against what God intended. That gays were born gay is the biggest lie ever told. It is a copout to avoid taking the responsibility for their choices. God will not accept that kind of poor excuse.

Heck Yeah! I am female and I am heterosexual. My ex Husband has had 6 female friends outside of the marriage arrangement. This fact and the A I D S epidemic has kept him in his own bedroom for 10 years now.
Yup, I actually dream about being loved and cared for by a human of the opposite sex, but it is only a dream.
NABEL the fool of a husband now has dementia, and I feel like any human bound to care for the fool!

Yes on occasions I do dream at night of some one who truly loves me making love to me But I wake up to reality. sigh! and know that God is a rewarder of those who suffer, and someday in a newly recreated Paradise earth, I will have Husband, and baby's galore! All physically and mentally healthy and happy.

If you are going to ask hypothetical questions should they not at least make sense? God would not condemn the very method of procreation he put into motion.

Now, what if we found out that sex was only to be used for procreation. You achieve your goal and do not say something that is silly.

Aside from a few perverts Catholic Priests and Nuns have lived a celibate life. It is not easy but it can be done if your dedication rises further than your loins.

I've been abstaining from heterosexual sex for about 5 years now. What's another 50 or 60 years? After the first few months, you forget all about it anyway.

I would try. I'm not perfect; I don't know if I could. But I would try to please God. Most days I sin at least once, even though I try not to. Some things are harder for me than others.

Of course, your question is purely hypothetical. I understand your point. But humans were created male and female, and the human race would have some serious problems if God banned heterosexual unions. Procreation would be somewhat difficult.

Romans 5:12 says that we are all sinners.

If you compare Proverbs 3:5, 6, this means that we all need God's help to be straight.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Therefore, it's the same for everybody - extremely difficult!

1 Peter 5:9
Resist him [Satan], standing firm in the faith, because you know that your fellow believers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

A lot of good Christians have already taken an oath to give up sex and dedicate their entire life to doing the work of God while here on this earth. As for myself. This is not my calling and purpose on earth. My purpose was obviously to have children and multiply. Everyone is on this earth for a reason and God has a plan for them. Our job is to fulfill that plan.
