That is not true. Here is what the Bible says:
1. The bible says to keep the Sabbath.
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Notice how it says on the seventh day? Hmm interesting. So if you do some research you will find that in Bible times the sabbath was actually on Saturday.
For some reason that I do not know Christians in our modern era have adopted Sunday as the sabbath day.
2. The Bible does not say specifically what day you should go to church but it does encourage it.
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
1Ti 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Act 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Act 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
3. The bible does prescribe how God is to be worshiped which is the reading and teaching of his word, singing of praises, praying, communion, confession of sin through prayer, and tithing.
You are more likely to do all of these things if you go to church rather than on your own.
So what conclusions can we draw from this?
1. Set aside a day of rest for yourself where you can easily attend church. For most people, this day is Sunday but if is on a different day for you that's fine.Try to do it weekly. If possible, you should not work on that day. It is a day of rest. Besides if you have the day off you won't have any problem with what time church is on that day. The best way to ensure this is when you apply for a job, be upfront with the employer and tell them that you can never work on this day. Remember that God created the heavens and earth in 6 days and on the 7th day he rested, so we also have a day of rest to honor him.
2. Attend on a regular basis. If your church meets on Sunday, then go on Sunday. If it meets on Thursday, then go on Thursday. You are not wrong if you don't go on a certain day. What is important is that you go regularly so you can hear God's word, sing praises to him, pray, tithe, partake in communion, and fellowship with your bretheren.
Your personal relationship with God will be enriched more if you simply go to church often, not if you go on a specific day. Whoever told you that you are wrong does not know what they are talking about. They simply should have said that if you don't go, you a missing an opportunity to learn and enrich your personal relationship with God.
Enjoy your time at church and God Bless!

Actually, you have to difference your wording simply fairly: Hebrew Bible Roman Catholic Bible Protestant Bible The Jewish pupils completed the version of the Hebrew Bible in approximately the 3rd century. That textual content is incorporated in each the RC and Prot. Bible. The order of the books is one-of-a-kind, on account that of underlying assumptions. The Christian Bible (the New Testament) wasn't particularly nailed down till practically the 10th century or so. After that, it was once locked in. This was once performed in a sequence of Church Councils. This textual content is the equal in each the RC and Prot. Bible, and the Old Testament is ordinarilly the equal in both of those Bibles, besides that the order is also somewhat one-of-a-kind. The most effective change among the RC and Prot. Bibles is the presence of the Apocrypha -- a couple of books that had been unknown in Hebrew, however had been incorporated frequently in Greek language translations of the Old Testament that had been in trendy use across the time of the early Church. That Greek translation of the Old Testament (known as the Septuagint) was once so trendy (so much Jews didn't at the moment consider the best way to talk or learn Hebrew anymore) that at any time when you uncover the Old Testament quoted within the New Testament, it's constantly the Septuagint textual content they're quoting.

The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath keeping is not required of the Christian—be it Saturday or Sunday.
The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10) celebrates the New Creation, with Christ as our resurrected Head. We are not obligated to follow the Mosaic Sabbath—resting, but are now free to follow the risen Christ—serving.
The Apostle Paul said that each individual Christian should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday.

Exodus 31:16,17 "the sons of Israel must keep the sabbath so as to carry out the sabbath during there generations. It is a covenant to time indefinite.Between me ad the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite. ( notice that the sabbath observance was a sign between god and Israel, this would not be the case if everyone were obligated to keep the sabbath)
Romans 10:4 "Christ is the end of the law, so that everyone excercising faith may have righteousness" ( sabbath keeping was part of the law.God used Christ to bring that law to its end.Our having a righteous standing with God depends on faith in Christ, not keeping a weekly sabbath).
Regarding your weekly bible study I would recommend having a read of Deuteronomy 6 v 5,6,7,8 and then meditate on whether you think you should be attending the study or not.
Hope this helps.

First, Paul's letter to Timothy at 2Timothy 3:16, 17 says, "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for settings things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." There really is no old or new testements, only one colection of books as the Bible.
Second, we are not to "forsake the gathering of ourselves together" (Heb. 10:25) It builds up spiritually. But, as for how many times and amounts, we are all different in abilities. God judges our hearts not amounts of service. We can not say some young one is more righteous because he does more than an older person.

You're correct, in biblical times the "first" church met on the first day of the week, which was in those days, Sunday.
It doesn't matter when you go to church or how often you go to church. The bible says, one man values a certain day above another, another man does not. What matters is that you know Jesus, seek Him, learn His word and be a doer of His word.

If you have accepted Christ as your savior, you don't even need to go to Church. Church is for people who love God and want to strengthen their relationship with him, so if you don't want to go every Sunday, you don't have to. God wants you to, but he'll understand if you don't. The Bible was mainly written before Jesus died...when the only way to get to Heaven was to follow God's instructions and not sin.

When we speak of faith in the bible, our answers must be based in the Holy Scriptures.
Going to church is just one of our obligations but we have to understand the will of the Father if we are true christian followers.
Eclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man.
Going to church is one of his commandments in the new testament but here is the question... have you known all the commandments of our Lord in the new testament? Everything is written there...
Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate; for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered thee.
Once we understand His will, then FAITH is not just going to church or giving donations.... Its about worshipping God with all our heart and soul...
(Rom 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren,by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, which is your reasonable service.
(Rom 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
(Rom 12:3) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than, he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
All the things we do is dealt with according to the measure of our faith.
God Bless
