R&S or A's vs C's?

Question

Last time I checked there were hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of views on religion and spirituality. In fact, you could say that there is a different view for every person on the planet. Isn't it sad and more than a little bit irritating that two loud, disrespectful and seemingly stupid groups dominate this forum with constant bickering, name calling and bashing? Wouldn't it be interesting if a variety of views could be explored without the tired atheist vs christian rants?
I think the really strict atheists are often just as puritanical and narrow minded as many Christians. The people that are really worth hearing get drowned out by the idiots too often. If this were a respectful and intelligent forum you could hear from lots of people who aren't so insecure as to need to cling to a strictly defined, narrow set of ideas and defend and attack from that standpoint like a frightened animal. What do YOU think?

I don't mind legitimate questions or debate. But I agree the name calling is not only counterproductive but it makes me question if those who are always engaging in these tactics do so for lack of intelligent commentary or critique. If I so chose I could easily employ such tactics with relative ease having been trained by one of the most grinch like acid tongued poison oozing persons to inhabit our planet. But I really would rather not run people down and don't see much benefit in it. Personally I would rather try and build bridges even when in strong disagreement on subjects but it is a time difficult when engaging with those who seem rather content to engage in endless accusations.

You have conveniently left out the wonders and humility that modern the mainstrean sciences offers.
The many fields of science ALL interweave and cross reference each other, and are a globally uniform understanding and explanations of the natural world around us.
It has no boundaries, no borders, no hidden agendas, makes no judgements, doesn't discriminate, and is potentially a uniting mindset and common understanding for every man woman and child.

The people who avoid this perspective, and/or deny their children access to it, are part of the problem, not the solution, and this is unforgivable...!!!

Such denial and ignorance is a BAD thing, yet still they deny..!

I think everyone's opinion is important as long as people are truly expressing what they feel and not just saying things to stir things up. I know it may seem annoying at times, but some people find God with these narrow set of ideas. I think as long as they don't hurt others (mentally or physically), it's okay....the jdugments and bashing are not what Jesus would want, anyway...he preached love, forgiveness, and peace.

I don't believe in God, but that doesn't mean I like bashing religion for no reason. I believe strongly in human rights and I respect intelligent religious people who often hold a lot more wisdom than I do.

LOL at times it seems that way but no I do not feel so. Why must it be a battle or a war? I am a Christian and I actually like discussing things with ALL faiths and yes even atheists and agnostics.

Atheists think that they're silly.

I know what you mean. Try to bring up some other religion subject, and it seems all the resposes are either "you're going to hell for believing in that" or "that crappy religion of yours is fake".
