The Bible says: "God hath not appointed us unto wrath"(law).
So perhaps real name of Hurricane Katrina's Wrath is "Law".
God(Grace) isn't Law: "both good and evil". God is good only.
God is only "merciful"; Not merciless. The "Law" is merciless.
So, perhaps we sabatoge ourselves with our own Law Law.

Can you define both good and evil in a universally accepted way WITHOUT using an example (like the Nazis or Mother Theresa).

Is it possible to know good without knowing evil and vice versa?

I was born to buddhism family and I am free thinker.
However, so many people claim that Buddha is a God. Especially whom are from single god religion.

As far as I understand, buddha ( Gotama ) was just a normal human. Whom married, had kid. So on so forth. And he did no magic. I could not find he turn water to wine nor feed thousand people from one bowl.

Please enlighten me with prove

Mother Theresa, no she wasn't perfect, but her name has been equated with a "good person." If she had never existed, what would we call good people?

The point? How do we know what good is without a comparison?

There was a question on here not too long ago:
Atheists if you had to guess how it all began, what would you say?
Turns out that the atheists, just like the theists, don't know all of the answers. They didn't know exactly how it started and they admitted it.
We may never know. Science can't "prove" it and we can't "prove" that God really does exist. Isn't all of this just a matter of opinion?
Why are we letting all of this hate fester over an opinion?

If the Nazi's (an evil and disgusting regime) had never existed, then what would we call a person we felt was just as evil as them?

The point? How do you know what evil is without a comparison?

Okay, since coming to this forum, I have noticed many things.
One of them being that the word atheist is used almost as a curse word.
Most atheists that I have come across seem to be asking a lot of questions as to the proof of creation etc. to be made by christians.
My veiws are this: If a true atheist, you would not believe in any gods with a certainty in your mind, and you would not care about any proof being offered one way or another, right?
Here is the definition, however of an agnostic:
Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of God or gods; or, alternatively, that while certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism.

This is from the dictionary. This also seems to fit most atheists on this board.
Having pointed this out, I notice christians are not cruel to agnostics. Would it not be simpler to just classify yourself as agnostic?
Just a thought...

The violence of buddhist extremists its being compared to the killing fields of Cambodia. In Sri Lanka religion has become mixed with politics and nationalism - creating a toxic brew of hatred and fear. They're acting like the Islamist extremists forcibally trying to convert people to Buddhism and forced to kneel down to declare Buddah is our god! read about it http://www.tamilnet.com/art.html?catid=79&artid=20555

I'm a Christian. And not afraid to tell you all about what I believe. What I find rediculous is that while people are trashing god and everything else all you other Christians are quiet. That or you are living like the world and sinning just as much as you please. Many of you are cruel down to the very bone than profess Christ. We are to be in the world NOT of it. And they will know us by our love! Where the heck is that anymore? People you gotta step up! I
I'm not saying I'm perfect because God and I both know I'm not. But look around you! The only example of Christ many people have seen is acting worse than them themselves!
We need to shine before men....

What would your guess be. And I am talking about the absolute first anything, like oxygen, matter, whatever... was the very 1st. No need to compare your belief to anyone, like by saying "Unlike the ficticious Christian God I think ... blah blah blah" So that everyone gets into "combat mode" .. I just want to know what you belief deep inside. No answer is cool too.
Thanks for any answers in advance... and no accusing me of being ANYTHING... I am a Searcher... yesterday I was an atheist, christian and muslim all in one day based on assumptions because of the questions I asked. LOL....
