I fear for my country. I am amazed that 48% of Americans believe the earth is 6000 years old. The ignorance is overwhelming. What is keeping the intelligence of this country bound in a straitjacket? Fundamentalism.

No. This is the internet, and it is an open religion forum. This is the cyber-space equivalent of a seedy bar in a trade port. I am really, really surprised that we don't see much worse.

You know better than to believe what you see on TV. Now you just have to understand that you can't believe what you see on the internet either.

It is amazing how many people base their opinion of theism, atheism, etc. on Y! A. Just compare how much of the world's population hangs out on Y!A and you will wonder why you ever associated this tiny little corner of the earth with the human race as a whole.

That is one of the ways the Evil One tries to tempt you by making you think that mankind doesn't have a chance because of the power of Evil but, just remember who God is and know that HE is in controll and just laugh at the Evil One.

My only fear was after reading up on human history, because I realised that a lot of the atrosities I had just learned about were the direct result of faiths still being practiced. And at the time, my own religion was one of them! Now that I'm not weighed down with dogma, that fear is now irritation. Not that people still practice religion, but that some people still practice the righteousness. Exactly the same attitudes that made our history a story of barbarism. Love thy neighbor used to mean "kill thy neighbor if thy neighbor believes differently than thou." Now it means, "try endlessly to convert thy neighbor before giving up on acting like you love him."

De. Scust. Ing. And pathetic. I agree with comedian George Carlin: We need to rewrite the Ten Commandments so that it includes, "Keep Thy Religion To Thyself."

It is the duality of the universe. The balance of good and evil; of knowledge and ignorance; of love and hatred. We each exercise our right of free choice and make a choice between each of these daily. Ultimately, there is nothing to fear. It is here for us to experience and learn from.

Verily, We have revealed to thee the Book comprising all truth for the good of mankind. So whoever follows guidance, follows it for the benefit of his own soul; and whoever goes astray, goes astray only to its detriment. And thou art not a guardian over them.

Shall We treat those who believe and do good works like those who act corruptly in the earth? Shall We treat the righteous like the wicked?

Afraid? NO NO NO!!! There is only one reason to be afraid and that is, to die without knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. The degradation of society, false religions, wars, natural disasters, and all that scares you today was prophesied long long ago. I rejoice in knowing the end is near and Jesus is coming back to take us away from this world. Maranatha!!!

No, because it"s only an internet site, and dosen"t affect my everyday life. I know I can just click off it at any time and that"s that.

It"s made me realise how lucky I am to live in England though, and that in every day life here people do not bother you with religion.

Yes i do, and it also makes me sad. Seems that allot of us are blind to the fact that we are hating each other, ruining our planet and trying to solve everyone Else's problems when we cant even solve our own and expect not to offend others in the process. Sounds like pride to me.
