Wow! I hadn't noticed but it is included, at least as a footnote, that it has been omitted. That verse is also written in Mark 9:29 but in some translations they have omitted the "fasting" part. Again, it is footnoted that "some versions say prayer and fasting."
Yes, that verse is very important for the driving out of certain demons.

Oh yes, a lot of verses are left out or rewritten as man wants them to be read.
I study the bible in Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Syriac translation when I need to or really want to understand what it says.
I use 5 different bi-linear translation books and 7 different bibles on any particular verse.
KJV
NWT
ASV
Douay
NAS
Darby
Wycliffe
I do this to find out why people believe as they believe and that it may be because of the translation they are using.

I am just here for backup, lol...she is correct. For instance it is not in the Revised Standard Bible and it even says "Omitted Text".
Modern King James Version:
Mat 17:20 And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Move from here to there. And it shall move. And nothing shall be impossible to you.
Mat 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.
Mat 17:22 And while they stayed in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men.
Revised Standard Version:
Mat 17:20 He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."
Mat 17:21 (OMITTED TEXT)
Mat 17:22 As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men,

Dieing to the flesh in prayer and by studing the Word of God,requires little effort....fasting is another story,(to my shame,I have done little in this tri-available way of seeking the Lord's face and power. This is an encouragement to those of us who take it to heart and act on in.

Yes, I am aware of this. Some ancient manuscripts leave this particular verse out based on what manuscript they use to translate their version. All in all this verse is trustworthy and authentic.
