I just read what I think is a GREAT answer saying that everything we can detect in our own visible universe is contingent on SOMETHING being eternal/infinite. No matter which way we approach this, through God or science, we always come back to something had to ALWAYS contain everything else. My only contention is that God in the Bible is said to be "infinite, the alpha and the omega" (although I put no creedence in the image portrayed in the Bible, as it has been bastardized to be a man in the clouds watching everything go down). Isn't it possible that science and theists are striving to the same conclusion and arguing about it the whole way there? I'm not saying God created himself, I'm saying God (in terms of whatever this eternalness actually is) has ALWAYS been, becuase something (or someone, if you choose) has necessarily always been.

1 Corinthians 6:9 says that adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God. The book of Luke tells us that anyone who divorces and remarries another commits adultery.

Fundamentalists say the only way to get to heaven is to turn from your sin and sin no more.

So, how can a divorced/remarried person turn from their sin and sin no more? Must they be celibate? Must they return to their first wife?

1 Corinthians 6:9 is used to condemn homosexuals, but it also condemns divorced people...but, churches seem mute on this point...why?

I tried to ask this question before

Have any of you read the Pew Research Center report?

It came out yesterday :http://pewresearch.org/assets/pdf/muslim...

Anyway, have you read it & what do you think?

About the report: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=329

Pew Research Center: http://people-press.org/

it's only about 108 pages long...anyway you don't have to read the whole thing (although i printed it and read it yesterday)...you can read about it here: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=329

I think it is interesting to note that Muslims are much more integrated here than in Western Europe. Muslim myself and spending time there I can honestly say that is TRUE. However, I did like that there were always lots of muslims around and I didn't feel like an outsider while I was in Europe. However, muslims as a group deffinitely have a problem there. I think it is mostly due to jobs & education but I am not an expert.

I mean sure, you heard of those people questionning God, who had doubts, the "sinful" and "heathens", but never could you have imagined that there were people who said point blank " There is NO God".
I remember the first time I heard someone saying that and I stared at him mouth open like " What?" Is it possible to think that? I thought you could say " God is mean" or "God doesn't love us" but "he isn't real?" Get out!
Anyone else grew up that way?

oh...and I chose that option by the way....

In one of my other questions Randyken said something that I found interesting. It was in regards to whether or not Atheist’s are influenced by the enemy in some way. He said, “The idea that we are some chance occurrence instills fear, and I see this fear as the driving force behind science, to discover how to live forever and escape a perceived "ultimate, inescapable fate.”-Randyken

Do you agree or disagree? Why?

The 10 Commandments - God's Revelation in the Old Testament
The 10 Commandments are found in the Bible's Old Testament at Exodus, Chapter 20. They were given directly by God to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai after He had delivered them from slavery in Egypt:

"And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God…

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'

SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

I noticed a few rabbis don't want to shake hands with me. Is it beacuse I'm Chinese and my hand might be filled with pork particles?

My bosses are Jewish and we frequently do pro-bono work for synagogues. These non-paying jobs are often handed to me, but my bosses are still the front men for meetings. Sometimes I go to the job site to clarify things with the workers and meet with the rabbis. Not all, but I noticed a few rabbis don't want to shake hands with me.

I found it a bit rude to treat someone who has done pro-bono work for them, but I would like to think there are some other reasons.

Is there some religious/cultural prohibition against shaking hands?

Hard-line Christians (and other hard-liners from different faiths)argue that homosexuality (amongst other things) is a sin and is wrong. In the secular world, to discriminate against homosexuals, women, people of different ethnic extractions etc is illegal yet successful cases, protecting a persons personal belief that their religion says these things are wrong, have been prosecuted around the world under the guise of "religious freedom". Why do we allow this to happen? If someone said that their religion permits wife-beating, can we possibly allow them to escape the justice of the law?*

The AntiChrist......Why is everyone so obsessed with the idea that the United States will play an important role in the End Time Prophecies in the Revelation? People are looking at America to give birth to the Anti-Christ, when actually, the entire book the the Revelation never mentions the US or anyone of the East...only the West, North, and South...(Asians/Russians/Persians/Egyptians, etc)
I understand that John could not have described the US because it didnt exist, but still....why are people..ESPECIALLY SOUTHERN BAPTISTS, so sure that the AntiChrist is coming from us and that WE play ANY role in this prophecy? (Not making fun of Southern Baptists...just I have heard many elder men of this Association tell me things like this..Im non-denomenational) We are nothing to them...just a blessed nation that supports Israel. We will be destroyed near the beginning of the Tribulation. Are we really that conceded?

Many questions in there...but..Your thoughts..?

Does that mean you think any action you take is OK? What about abusing a child, rape, murder, robbery, etc...?

Do you have any standards that guide what you think is right or wrong?

What types of laws should we have? Who's standards of right and wrong should they be based on?

If you say they should be based on what the majority of people believe, what would happen if the majority of the people were wrong? (Like how Germans stood by and let the holocaust happen)

Just curious, as I have never understood exactly what people mean when they say they don't think there is such thing as sin.

I have faith; but, however, I also went to school and learned "deductive reasoning". When people ask me, "How do you know that there really is a God?", I am somewhat dumbfounded!

A man caught a fish off the coast of Indonesia recently. It was believed to have been alive during the time of the dinosaurs. Scientists thought it was extinct. Since they were dead wrong about the existence of a simple species of fish, how much do scientists know, really? What do you evolutionists say about this fish? Can you explain why it hasn't evolved since prehistoric times?

To you find it unfortunate that the O.T. is part of the Bible. What I mean is if you've read the Bible, there's a lot of questionable behaviour associated with God. From God wiping out almost all of humanity, to Egyptian kids, to basically endorsing slavery, sexism, racism and homophobia.

The N.T. while encouraging repentment, has a softer tone if you will. While Revelations seems a little bleek the general feeling I get from Jesus is of love for humanity, unlike the O.T. God who by name is Jealous, comes off angry, and vengeful.

Now of course it's impossible to discount the O.T. as it prophecizes Jesus, and also gives us important insight into the character of God.

But my question is, as a Christian, would you rather just do away with the majority of the Old Testament and have people focus almost solely on the New Testament, or do you feel they are equally important texts?

Law of Causality - Non-being cannot cause being - or in laymens terms from nothing, nothing comes.

And please don't use Heisenberg's principle of iIndeterminacy to claim that quantum particles pop into existence out of nothing, entirely without cause because it breaks the backbone of your own scientific laws from which you establish your disbelief in God.

Another person posted this earlier...and not many responses.

If, as you say, homosexuality is a sin...and a person can turn from their sin by being born again....then they become a new person, the old things have passed away.

So, would you marry/date or allow your child to marry/date a former homosexual?
