The AntiChrist......Why is everyone so obsessed with the idea that the United States will play an important role in the End Time Prophecies in the Revelation? People are looking at America to give birth to the Anti-Christ, when actually, the entire book the the Revelation never mentions the US or anyone of the East...only the West, North, and South...(Asians/Russians/Persians/Egyptians, etc)
I understand that John could not have described the US because it didnt exist, but still....why are people..ESPECIALLY SOUTHERN BAPTISTS, so sure that the AntiChrist is coming from us and that WE play ANY role in this prophecy? (Not making fun of Southern Baptists...just I have heard many elder men of this Association tell me things like this..Im non-denomenational) We are nothing to them...just a blessed nation that supports Israel. We will be destroyed near the beginning of the Tribulation. Are we really that conceded?

Many questions in there...but..Your thoughts..?

SCAPEGOAT:

People do this all the time....have you never seen.."Gays answers only" on a gay question...I sure don't see you ranting and raving about that..or how about "women answer only" go cry about that....Get a life. You don't stand a chance here.

AMY: very good point...

LUKE: im just curious..what faith are you? Ive not heard many Christians around here speak of the prophecy of the years....I dont particularly agree with your answer as to how America is in the Bible, I do respect it. I do, however, notice the fact that Great Britain and Italy has been known for its ships and merchant lifestyle much longer than America has.

1SAINTOFGOD:

Yes, i see this, but Im talking of the generally accepted (possibly TOO accepted) idea of a single person embodiment of an Antichrist force..so in other words the last Beast that is spoken of in the Revelation.

RALLIE:

I know that you are attempting to make a point, but your rambling incoherency is making it hard to point out...Are you saying that Christians themselves are the antichrist? cuz thats kind of what it sounds like at the end....But we see from the OT that the Devil and even magicians have powers...they can emulate Gods power, but only on the surface to our eyes..

LUKE:
ahh, gotcha. I was trying to figure it out. I dont know that much about Adventists, but I knew that many of the southern christian organizations have never heard of some of the prophesies. Just didnt want people to get confused on anything. Thanks and God Bless.!

I don't think anyone really knows. Revelations is vague and difficult to understand for a reason. I don't think God intended for us to try to map out the end times as many people are trying to do. I am also SB, by the way, and not offended. I used to try to figure it all out and worry about it, but I think the point is that we are to try to live our lives the way God intended and we are to try to spread the message of God's love and faith in Christ and the rest should be left up to God. I also think the "Left Behind" series while an excellent series (I've read all but the last book) has confused some people and fueled the desire to "figure it all out" and point to the Anti-Christ. With all that said, I'm definitely not an expert or biblical scholar (as I'm sure you can tell by what I have said). However, I am a Christian and have read much of the Bible. My point is.... I don't think it helps us to worry about it or try to figure it all out. The end will come whether we know how it's going to happen or not. As long as I know where I (& my loved ones) am spending eternity, then I don't want to worry about how it's going to happen.

America is in Revelation, (Revelation 13:11-18)
This beast came out of the Earth as opposed to the sea. Sea was always representing vast amounts of people, so it had to be a power that arrises after the 1260 day prophecy (ends in 1798) and has to be in a area that has few people, but eventually becomes strong enough to force people to worship the first beast and has control of all the worlds economy. We have always interpreted this as America. That doesn't mean that the Anti-Christ comes from America, but rather that it forces people to worship the Anti-Christ.
Hope that helps

TO YOUSUCKA'S:
I am a Seventh-Day Adventist, and we have usually gone with the Historical method of interpretation of prophecy. Some new SDA's go with futurist, but I am a historist for prophecy.

Your Welcome, more information on my page.

TO CLARIFY:
It may have seem that I said that America is Babylon, no I believe that American gives power to Babylon and to the Anti-Christ. So, the prophecies concerning Babylon do not apply to America, but rather to the Spiritual Babylon power.

Read the book "Isaac Asimov on Numbers" by Isaac Asimov. Pay special attention to the section on Revelations - its the best explanation of what it REALLY means, and will make your eyes pop open wide when you read it. Look under the section about the ancient Jewish divination practice of "numerology". This is the most brilliant analysis of what Revelations REALLY means that I have ever seen, and it makes sense. Read it, and understand why I am saying this - its worth it. If more Christians understood the context of the words at the time they were written, they wouldn't be so goofy about it. Ignorance is not bliss.

The word "antichrist" appears nowhere in the book of Revelation. In fact, it ONLY appears in the letters of John, and it appears in the plural. There is no single "antichrist". John simply defines an "antichrist" as anyone who denies that Jesus is the Christ. (Sound logical?) A lot of people are seriously abusing scripture!

I think (hopefully I'm dead wrong) that Rev. 18 describes a surprise nuclear attack agains the US. Note how it mentions merchants crying about how there will never be a great city like the one that's destroyed. So yeah, I have my doubts about the anti-christ coming from the US, especially since the anti-christ is supposed to have some connection with Rome.

You have an interesting question. However, I do not know your point. Is it that you want to LEARN or you want to DISQUALIFY the Word of God? What do you exactly mean by asking such a question? The Gospel of Jesus Christ, have not you learned anything? Everytime Jesus Christ preached, that was part of HIS Gospel. Every parable was, is and will be part of HIS Gospel. His Birth was, is, and will be part of HIS Gospel. Even HIS Death was, is and will be part of HIS Gospel. Why don't you continue reading in Galatians 1: 10-12 wherein Paul preaches that anything and everything that he preaches is not taught nor learned from any human being, But through a revelation from JESUS CHRIST. Or Do you want to physically read a Gospel by Jesus Christ? It is preached by the apostles; that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's what they do, they preached what Jesus Christ commended them to do through the HOly Spirit. Can you tell me what a false gospel in the Bible is? I do not find it

You are just the same as the original Christians who were afraid that someone will go against your belief so you demonized those who opposed Christ and call them the Anti-Christ and then associated it with any sociopath that may show and try to destroy a peaceful society.
This is the most clever way of the Christians to hide behind the priestly cloak so no one could identify clearly who is the devil's emissary.
Read the Book of Revelation slowly and clearly try to understand every word it says. Start with why John of Patmos in Rev.1:17 Why he would fell at his feet as though dead. Did he see Jesus as the angel of death?
Who do you think is the Beast in Rev.13 that says he had ten horns and seven heads, ten crowns for each horn with blasphemous name.(In whose name do you address God now?), resembling a Leopard, (meaning clothed to blend with the environment so you will hardly notice), feet of a bear, (gentle looking but deadly), mouth like that of a lion, (who do you call the Lion of Judah?) The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority (who did talk to who when he said the authority on earth is given to him and he can give it to anyone whom he will choose to), One of the heads seem to have FATAL wound, but the fatal wound had been healed (who in the Bible was the man who was taken for the dead for deadly wounds and got back to life with the wounds totally healed?) And since then, had anyone been able to go against this Beast eversince it becomes so greatle worshipped?

No one except God knows the time and where the AntiChrist will come from. Why waste time and worry about something God is in charge of? His will be done!

I have never heard that one before and most of the theories I've heard say he will come from Europe somewhere but I think the bottomline is that no one can really claim to know for sure

Well, If you read the words

CAREFULLY,

you will not find the words

THE ANTICHRIST.

You will find

ONLY

the word

ANTICHRIST.

This doctrine of,

"THE ANTICHRIST",

has been built on sinking sand.
