Jesus turned water into wine and hung with prostitutes so he was clearly quite liberal about some of the moral issues that hardliners get themselves in a tizzy about. I think a lot of it is misinterpretation of the Bible, after all Jesus was all about forgiveness, love, live and let live, turn the other cheek etc etc.
All the fire and brimstone is a bit old testament really, since Christianity is based on the new testament it doesn't make sense. I am agnostic but veer heavily towards atheism most of the time, but I think that Christianity has some good points (the stuff I mentioned above, monogamy, charity).
If god is so powerful then why would he be so insecure as to condemn you for being a non-believer? Surely the fact that Kevin or Sandra from Basingstoke don't believe in a being that supposedly created all of the universe could actually hurt him? It makes me laugh.

I agree with you, there are so many so called Christians on here who state that unless we are 'saved' unless we do this and that then we are condemned to all hell and damnation. Let us get one thing right - there is no such place as Hell, it is a man made concept to frighten, empower and indoctrinate. If all the so called Christians would stop and think logically for a change, God would not condemn us anywhere, nor would he punish us because he loves us and would forgive us. We sit in judgement of ourselves when we go to the afterlife, which I believe is spirit world (or Heaven). As a spiritualist I do believe in God and Jesus but not the clap trap the Christains claim will happen. And yes, they do profess to pray for souls (I doubt they actually do it) because they have to be seen as 'good' and therefore get what they think is their rightful place in Heaven. I apologise if I am generalising as I know there are people - Christain people - who are not like this.

Excelent question...
Satan isn't a being with goat feet and horns that lives in hell as christians believe. This idea of Satan arrived at many places with christianity itself.
Some people with different beliefs think the demons do exist inside of us, not in the shape of the horned red beings, those demons are our own egos. Sometimes, some people (I don't mean to generalize) have that holier than thou attitude, and it's actually their own ego, their self importance, and their need to be accepted by outsiders as they cannot find acceptance inside them, no matter how much they talk about having found God. We have this amazing ability to lie to ourselves...
These egos are considered demons because they prevent us from awakening our conscience and evolving into what we should become. Someone who is enlightened will never feel sorry for those who don't believe nor do they feel a need to preach, because they understand every human being has it's own pace, and they will learn what they need to learn in this life, to become better souls. They don't need to preach as they feel complete already, with or without the rest of the world's acceptance.
People who condemn those for disagreeing with them have a big acceptance issue which is non other than their ego.

Are you so sure? man condemns himself. The Bible says there is no condemnation to those that believe. The devil is a lier, why are some so quick to believe that Christians are so self righteous,we are who we are because of the grace of God. He shows you and me mercy everyday and you can not see it. Many look on the outside but God looks on the inside. When one looks for trouble they will find it! It is not that serious I mean what man thinks about it,what does God think about it. Read Romans 9:28-39.

People dont have the power to condemn anyone to Hell...only God has that power & authority. Christians pray for ppl because they have good hearts and dont want to see anyone condemned to hell. No one has to agree with "me" per se...we must all agree with God. If we choose not to, we condemn our ownselves to hell.

I don't, so please don't say I do.
I guess you are talking about "Christians" - well, Christians are a very diverse bunch and it is not fair to generalise. Some, sadly, are indeed as you describe, but they tend to be at the extreme end of the spectrum. Condemning people to "hell" is not what Christianity is about.

Most real 'christians' won't condemn you to hell.
They might use it as a warning - since they have been brainwashed by fear and propaganda - but they know it isn't their place to judge.
They will pray - because they think that God will soften your heart, and you will be able to accept the idea that if you don't jump through certain hoops like getting 'saved' then you won't get to go to heaven.

I condemn no one to hell. I don't have the power. The only one that can condemn someone to hell is that person, himself.

Who cares? A lot of people are in the "twilight zone" about things like this, and if it is true, they aren't the ones that will be sitting in judgement, and they ought to remember that..."judge not, lest ye be judged".
Of course, they really do it to feel better about themselves by being "superior" to the "sinner". Its nonsense, but that's what is really going on. They aren't even aware that they are doing it.
