Hard-line Christians (and other hard-liners from different faiths)argue that homosexuality (amongst other things) is a sin and is wrong. In the secular world, to discriminate against homosexuals, women, people of different ethnic extractions etc is illegal yet successful cases, protecting a persons personal belief that their religion says these things are wrong, have been prosecuted around the world under the guise of "religious freedom". Why do we allow this to happen? If someone said that their religion permits wife-beating, can we possibly allow them to escape the justice of the law?*
*In 2006 a Muslim women in Germany lost the case to divorce her husband for beating her because it was ruled that this type of "correction" was part of his religious belif
