I tried to ask this question before

Have any of you read the Pew Research Center report?

It came out yesterday :http://pewresearch.org/assets/pdf/muslim...

Anyway, have you read it & what do you think?

About the report: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=329

Pew Research Center: http://people-press.org/

it's only about 108 pages long...anyway you don't have to read the whole thing (although i printed it and read it yesterday)...you can read about it here: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=329

I think it is interesting to note that Muslims are much more integrated here than in Western Europe. Muslim myself and spending time there I can honestly say that is TRUE. However, I did like that there were always lots of muslims around and I didn't feel like an outsider while I was in Europe. However, muslims as a group deffinitely have a problem there. I think it is mostly due to jobs & education but I am not an expert.

Jayelle--did you read the whole thing? It gets more specific. I don't think suicide bombings are right. But the ppl who said they are did not say they are FLAT OUT right in all circumstances. they don't see it as a black and white discussion they se shades of grey

also note that it is mostly young muslims who feel this way and african american muslims who feel this way

Jayelle- I just went back to the survey in addition to what I previously said to you I want to know where you got 25% from--what page is that because I don't see it here. It says it is only 8% that said it is sometimes justified.

I'm looking specifically at pages 59 and 60 it doesn't say 25 % of muslims think suicide bombings are ok.

pppmntgr....I agree but I know ppl who got educated in europe-either went there for education or grew up there and got it and they still didn't find jobs. There is too much unemployment there and it's harder to get into university in many european countries. I actually like that a university education might mean something since it is harder to get one but on the other hand one would hope to have a large number of ppl able to get a good education.

I would think that based on the Muslims I see. The studies are really interesting. However, the fact that 25 percent said that suicide bombing can be justifiable worries me.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
Muslims in Europe immigrate to find jobs because of povert yin their own nations...when we get to Europe, we face tremendous discrimination and racism, which causes a lot of cultural and even physical isolation.
In the US, Muslims can blossom and be successful business owners, etc, and don't feel the need to isolate themselves socially or physically because of the "PC" nature of American society.
Also since a lot of Muslims come to US specifically for education, they tend to be educated people or at least respect education. Muslims in Europe are there to make money, meaning who knows if they get educated in Europe or were when they came.
People keep saying 25%...it's 15%, and that is only of young people (under 30). And it's not as if they said they were justifiable all the time...even Hillary Clinton said she could see how and when people might think they were justifiable in some circumstances.

yes. They appear to be more integrated. Then this may be a cover for '5th column' type activities.

Below is a group of ex-Muslims who say Islam is similar to fa schism.; that is a religio/political movement, bent on com quest.

i agree with the poster under me. Surveys taken in Lebanon, show that a large percentage of Muslims say that suicide bombing is 'acceptable'.
