It doesnt seem any different to me than wearin a small guillitene or noose as jewelry. I get the whole Jesus died deal. What about the thousands who have been killed in the name of Jesus over time, by worse devices than the cross. This not to upset. I see people get nuts over pentagrams, which are not evil, so save the resons why, im not asking why things are evil or good, i just wonder if any one sees the morbid act that it seems to me to be.

What do you call those Christians who go to church, and praise the lord, but when they leave they do the exact opposite?

This is a road traffic offense. Why won't you allow Mohamed's camel, Buddha's mini-van and the Agnostic's bycicle to take the way to heaven?

My partner and I are getting married next year in a catholic church. I am catholic and he was brought up protestant though having being baptised in a catholic church. Thanks to peoples answers on here I now know that as he is baptised catholic he is basically catholic just not church going. He received no protestant sacraments. What my question is that as he has only received the sacrament of baptism in the catholic church does he have to have the other sacraments (communion and confirmation) before he can get married in the catholic church. We would like to have a catholic wedding. Our daughter was christened catholic also. We have discussed this and (only if he really has to) is willing to have these sacraments if this is the only way for us to have our catholic wedding. A protestant wedding is really out of the question as he was never baptised into the church. To be honest, a bad decistion on behalf of his parents. Baptised into one religion and raised another. Unfair on the child

swinging to the music. If I was alone on a desert island that is some of the music I would pick Gospel music along with Dr Hook.
Anyone else like Gospel and Dr Hook. My friend loves Heavy Metal.

The barbarians who murdered thousands...crusaders, conquistadors, bishops and priests...

As many of you say, there are "metaphors" in the Bible. Or you have to read it with Jesus in your heart or it means nothing.

What if you have read/interpreted wrong? How can you say they are wrong, they who probably were firmer believers than you?

Basically, how do you know you are correct when those more devout have done things atrocious?
Unless the whole thing is not some infallible truth, but like most other things, relative?

It is horrible in this country that I actually heard on a college campus in 1998 a student say "...everyone born in this country is Christian". The two Pagans and the one Jew were not happy with her ignorance. Yes the majority in this country are Christians either by choice or by force, [if your parents did not let you pick your religion you were forced into the one you practice even if you think you are happy in it], but there are many, many people who believe strongly and are very religious/spiritual that are not Christian. Some of us knew we were not Christian when we read the Bible.

I have noticed that most of the worlds conflicts and issues can be directly traced back to the inability of different religions to tolerate one another. Why is it so important for people of religious faith to feel that they must voice their dislikes while being extremley defensive when their own beliefs are scrutinized? Just wondering.

The Bible was written by and for people living thousands of yrs ago. When it was published, it was not published for us living today or for people living in the 22nd century. For instance the "ark" and the "flood".

Is that the only reason that I believe some parts of the Bible are "weird"?

I know this'll seem Liberal but anything specific?

Homosexuality is not wrong

Reincarnation is possible

Abortion is not wrong only in two ways, (1) a woman is raped or (2) both mother and baby could die in the delivery room

The end of the world is always possible but only God knows when

The bible is the witness of God but not the word of God and that Adam & Eve didn't exist and the book of revelations has a good message but it won't happen exactly like that, if at all

I asked for a prayer request yesterday for my son in law Bob. I can't thank you all enough for your prayers and kind words. Received news today that his condition may not be as bad as they thought. My faith tells me this is because of prayer and God's blessings. Once again thanks to all who responded and may God Bless You all.

Okay ive been reading many answers, and I have looked up diffrent sources on the internet that said we did not evolve from chimps, monkeys, apes or ect. They just are close realtives. So exactly what did we evolve from? A friend of mine said that we evolved out an earlier form of humans, and later changed. But wouldnt that prove that humans were here to begin with.

Does the absence of both critical thinking and the principle of skepticism being taught in schools in the US (and the UK) contribute to a rise in religious fundamentalism? Should we devote more time to teaching our future generations how to think about ideas critically and objectively?

What exactly makes the Bible truth? the reason i'm asking is that through the years, there have been any number of religions that have sprung up and died. Maybe these ones didn't appeal, and the ones that seemed to resonate most with people stayed. If someone is comfortable with their place on this planet and their own idea of faith (or lack thereof), then why dog them and tell them there maybe more, when there is no real proof that there is. this isn't an insult on your faith, just live and let live. I get really tired of people asking me to let Jesus in my heart (nothing against Christians, I just happen to live in America), because I'm comfortable with my life where it is. If I am wrong, then so be it, but if I am not, then where's the harm? It won't matter to you in the end. instead of concerning yourself about the the afterlife, try and focus more on those around from a different standpoint. The homeless guy on the street? give him a sandwich, it will help him a lot more.
