The social aspects of Christianity have changed as society has changed. Yet salvation has never changed--honesty--and basic morals have never changed. Societal view toward morals may change be the bible is the same. Belief in the aspects of the bible are and can be a daily guide. Other parts of the Bible need explanation

FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?
"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).
FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?
"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

The Bible was written for all of God's people to live by not just people thousands of years ago. You probably think there are parts of the Bible that are weird because they are not meant to be taken literally but symbolically.

Christians have self assurance in Paul's writing because of the fact they are in the Bible and, and we've reasons for believing the recent testomony is actual actuality. it is not some thing i'm afraid to admit or am ashamed of because of the fact I unquestionably have reasons in line with evidence, not which you may ever evaluate them. Secondly, what Paul teaches the apostles shown. it is made obtrusive as you seem at different New testomony writings. i might warning every physique to make arguments from the absence of greater-biblical evidence, because of the fact many historic historic records have been lost; to illustrate, a substantial factor to the Roman historian Tacitus is lacking.

A whole bunch of the weirdness comes from bad translations. For instance, I think "holy bible" should really be "holey bible" -- as in full of.

People have basically not changed in thousands of years, we are the same with a little more knowledge and some fancy technology, but the same problems still plague us now as then. hunger, poverty, war, disease, injustice, hatred, prejudice and yes, unbelief.Science has not evolved us it is has only made us more effiecient at destroying everthing we touch.

Perhaps you consider it "weird" because you don't have a clue as to what it contains or its purpose.
