When priests don't marry, when priests don't have sex, and the Church is as far away from Family than anything else. Seems a bit much them telling how married life should be. At least the Protestants marry.

I mean, if you were born in Iran, youd'd likely be Muslim, if you were born in India you'd likely be Hindu, if you were born in Tibet you'd likely be buddhist. Really, you only have the faith you do because of where you were born and the culture you grew up in. So do most believe your way is the only way of thinking? You wouldn't be thinking that way at all if born somewhere where god isn't the dominant deity.

For those of you that dont have children How will you be celebrating Mothers Day? My mom and mother in law live very far away from me, Do you find this Holiday hard to celebrate because you dont have children? I just thought I would ask.
I am an Aunt and I love being an Aunt, but I because of medical reasons and partly finiacial was unable to have my ownkids. Mothers should be honored my mom and my mother in law are awesome wonderful people I did send a card and a gift. Mothers day is a little bitter sweet for me do you feel the same way?
I will be praying tommorow that God gives me the mercy, strength and grace to get through the day, has not having children for you been a blessing is disguise? What are godly ways to come to terms with this and go forward?

Stalin- 20 mil dead. Mao, as many as 100 mil., but we may never know the truth. Conservative estimates put his score card at 30 mil. Historians have discovered that while Mao was starving his citizens to death, he encouraged cannibalism as a way to support the state and to rid the townships of religious practitioners. Hitler may have been raised Catholic, but he referred to himself as “a complete pagan”, and his Nazism was rooted in Atheism just as Communism, Marxism and Fascism was. To deny the connection is to be dishonest about the facts. In the past 100 years, Atheism has been the root of more human suffering than any other modern belief. The witch burnings of Europe killed as many as 100 thousand. Salem witch trials killed 16. Linguistic arguments to support an answer is no substitute for facts. Look at the numbers, Atheism has been at the root of over 100 mil dead in the past 100 years; less than 5 mil world wide attributable to religions.

I am not religious, just factual.

I try to be polite and I’ve not called theists names, but…

Just in the past 14 Hours I’ve been called stupidassed, a twit (several times), a baboon and more (and my use has been light over this period).

Now given the source, I don’t care a whole lot – I’m just kind'a interested Are others noticing this? … Or is it the same old, same old?

And might this obnoxious behaviour imply that their FAITH is CRUMBLING, SHATTERING and DYING?

Is God good because he "is good" or because he chooses to be good in a realm where "Good & Evil" exist?

And if so, thus he must choose to be good. Therefore did good exist before God in order for him to Choose it? If so, what else came before God?

Here is what a christian recently said as reply to a question;

"/CAPS_ON

he GAVE you the GREATEST GIFT of FREE WILL to CHOOSE HIM

/CAPS_OFF

.. and if you don't well..

big owie 4 u!"

Soooo, if you HAVE free will (given to you by god apparently) but choose the wrong thing (not obeying him) then you go to hell. Is anyone else staggered by the outright ignorance of the above statement?
For those of you who don't yet understand, the quote above is basically saying that you have free will, as long as you choose to obey god. Kind of like the way Henry Ford used to say that people could buy a Model A in any color they wanted, so long as that color was black.
No choice = no free will.
Get it now?

Why do Evangelical Protestants think that by merely quoting snipettes of scripture this is "proof text' for their individual interpretation? Do they ever consider they are taking verse out of context without providing the listener and reader a narative to follow? Do they ever consider examining how first Christianity interpreted the same verse?
Why recreate the wheel?

My daugher mislead alot of people about a guy we approved of and she loved. It came out that she didn't love him and went with another guy we don't approve of. She left home and went with her aunt non chrisitan and has no one to tell her anything. We as her parents want to follow the Lord the way it should be. We don't want to participate on any thing that is against God's will. We try and live a Christian life and also have two younger kids 3 and 2 years old. Alot of people say we are strict parents we don't isolate her she goes out with friends and all. She was hiding this seceret from us and when God showed us what was going on everything exploded. We tell her that if she wants good things in life she needs to make good dicision in the Lords path. One of them is to honor your parents. And that is the last thing she is doing. She calls she wants to come back home we welcome her in with our rules. We believe giving a good testimony is how the Lord want us to live.

I'm reading Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away and there was no more sea."
At this point G has redeemed man back to Himself and is giving man a place to live.

(1) Is this new place to live, the "new heaven and new earth", G's original plan for man before he sinned?

(2) I can understand needing a new earth since this one is contaminated with sin. But, a "new heaven" seems to say new planets? Why is that necessary?

(3) Is there a big time gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2?
