What is your source? According to an early Christian text called the Protoevangelium of James, Mary was not 13, but 16, when she became pregnant with Jesus (and not through sex with anyone).

Here you go - both are kind of gross.
That said, Mohammed is said to not have consummated the marriage to Aicha until she was older (how old, I don't know).
If the Virgin Mary really were a virgin, then at least we know she was older than 13, right? I mean, lots of girls lose their virginity at 14 or 15 nowadays.
Anyhow, I don't hate either religion, but I say 18's the way to go...

The difference is Mohammed had sex with that 9 year old girl.
Mary "knew" Joseph means they were engaged, and it was tradition to wait for one year before getting married. Mary was between 14 and 16 when she gave birth to Jesus.

There is NO evidence that Prophet Muhammad even had Sexual relations with Aiysha. Prophet Muhammad had only ONE child. A Daughter, with his first wife. Prophet Muhammad married to show others how to take care of Women and treat them with Respect. In this time everyone was married off at this age.
There were very few men and so many widowed women with children, each man HAD to marry at least four so the women could be take care of and be taught Islam properly.

I'm not a christian but here we go.
Jews around 2000 years ago married around 16 for females and mid 20's for males.
the life expectancy was much younger so the human race procreated at a younger age. now how many 16 year old these days have kids. to many by our culture but the culture then needed woman to grow up faster to make sure the human race survived.
I'm sure if you actually studied and not hated you might now stuff like this.

Actually, Ayesha was 6 when they got married, and 9 when they consumated the marraige.
Mary's exact age is unknown, but they figure she was between 13 and 14.
The biggest difference, I think, is Mary had already gone through puberty and Mohammed married Ayesha before she had a chance to grow.
In todays terms, both were too young.

Ah, but Joseph was ready to put her aside for her infidelity (as he had not consumated their marraige, it being illegal until she came of age).
It was a known practice to marry early, yet not consumate the marraige.
Joseph was convinced not to do this by the archangel Gabriel himself (the one who supposedly talked to Muhammed). Seems to me that Joseph did nothing improper, though God himself might have "jumped" a bit soon.
I don't think Muhammed and God are in the same league, and 9 is a long way from 13.
At the same time, does it say Muhammed had sex with her? It might have been the same practice!

Just to state a fact here,
Muhammed (s) was married to Aisha when she was 9. However, the marriage was not consummated until she was through puberty. I think the age was 16, but I´ll check and change this after if I´m wrong.
This marriage is often criticised because this very info is conveniently left out of many books about Islam.
I´m just curious as to where you have this reference to Mary`s (s) age from.
