Many will claim to be Jesus (peace be upon him) but most of them will be fake (40 in total), the last one to proclaim himself as Jesus (peace be upon him) will be the most dangerous one.
He will split a human in half and make him whole again. This he will present as proof to the world that he is Jesus (peace be upon him) but in fact he will be the opposite.

We have to find a man who will be proclaimed the Mahdi.
This man will have no bone holding his right thumb up which will function correctly without the bone.
When you shake his hand and feel the bone is not there, you'll know he is the one, the one called the Mahdi.
The Mahdi will reveal who Jesus (peace be upon him) is and the battle will begin and Jesus will slay the last anti-Christ.

Every person who ever lived has a measure of something known as "The Light of Christ" or a conscience. Using that, people learn the difference between right and wrong and learn as well what is truth and what is error.

As for trying to figure out what tools we can use to find out if someone claimed to be the second coming, this Light of Christ would be one of the major tools. I would also recommend doing a detailed study of the New Testament and review in particular James, chapter 1, verse 5:

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

What's interesting about this is that Joseph Smith Jr. , mortal founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, used this verse to ask God Himself what church to join, back when he was 14 years old. He had complete faith that God would tell him what to do. This simple 14 year old boy had no idea that he would be called to be the Lord's prophet. He just wanted to do the right thing.

So I must say that if a person claims that he was the second coming, I would have to fall back on personal prayer and personal revelation to verify what to do. I do know that there will come a time where everyone on the earth will know of Jesus Christ. And only those who are prepared for that second coming will be those who will meet Him. That's why the LDS Church sends missionaries out to as many parts of the world as possible: To give the world as many chances as possible to get ready for that second coming.

And I leave that with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Sincerely,
Alvin R.

THis is how fast it will happen. You will not have time to take out a measuring stick.

Not everyone of us will die, but we will all be changed. It will happen suddenly, quicker than the blink of an eye. At the sound of the last trumpet the dead will be raised. We will all be changed, so that we will never die again.

No one will tell anyone anything. When Christ returns, every eye in the world will know it all at the same time. Every knee will bow and every voice will proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ

I would know that the end times were truly here because it is written that there will be those who claim to be the Messiah returned but are sent to lead people astray. God will make it known to all the world when Jesus returns. No one will have to guess or be told.

My measuring stick is the fact that there is no god. So every single person who would claim to be a deity is a fraud in my book.

Christ will be more than mere human this time. He will come back to call the righteous to heaven.
