Why does the Orthodox Church consider that people should be baptised in early childhood ? How do they see the concept of being "born again" and accepting Jesus?

Four Catholic ladies are having coffee together. The first one tells her friends, "My son is a priest. When he walks into a room, everyone calls him 'Father'."

The second Catholic woman chirps, "My son is a Bishop. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, 'Your Grace'."

The third Catholic woman says smugly, "My son is a Cardinal. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, 'Your Eminence'."

The fourth Catholic woman sips her coffee in silence. The first three women give her this subtle "Well.....?"

She replies, "My son is a gorgeous, 6'2", hard bodied stripper. When he walks into a room, people say, 'Oh my God...'."

I was raised Catholic and have much respect for the faith. I retain my faith in God and value the moral teachings of the religion. Yet, I find so many of the "Church's" teachings to be almost silly. For example, the whole "limbo" concept. To me that borders on supersition-type of belief. There are many other examples that just seem illogical. This is a real struggle for me.

Evolution = the process by which species adapt to their environment for continued survival.

Abiogenesis = Where it all came from.

It might not make sense at first glance, but think about it. One has nothing to do with the other.

If we're debating about the nutritional value of a slice of pie on a plate in front of us, you don't win the argument by pointing out that I don't have an answer for 'Who made the pie?'

Not an invalid question by any stretch of the imagination, but certainly irrelevant.

The Bible teaches that Baptism is for those who can repent (Acts 2:38), believe (Acts 16:31), and confess Jesus (Romans 10:9).

I guess I'm thinking along the lines of 1 Corinthians 12 - About us all having different gifts to use to work together as the body of Christ.

What's your experience, or the experience of ppl you know?

I think that quite often it can be a matter of doing whatever's needed at the time, but I also recognise that different ppl have different personalities and giftings.

And so rebellious against the holidays we are commanded to keep in Leviticus?

Same with Sunday Sabbath....we know its wrong but we are so quick to turn the blind eye....

WHY???????

these facts made me leave typical Christianity and go to Messianic Jew.

Are you more in love with your denomination/traditions than G-d's word perhaps?? (like the pharisees were?)

Please explain why you are so quick to defend whats clearly wrong and reject what is clearly right?

It is events like that which confirm my belief that there is no god. If there was, those 32 people wouldn't have had to lose their lives and their families suffer. The same goes with people who are retarded, children who die with cancer and deaths at an ealry age. If there was a god, why would he let these things happen??
