What makes you not believe in Zeus???
What makes you not believe in Allah???
What makes you not believe in Ahura Mazda???
What makes you not believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster???
What makes you not believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn???

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

I do believe in a highest God and many other gods. My problem is the Abrahamic perception of deity. IMO, the Abrahamic version of God is not fit for worship. He's jealous, angry, masochistic, selfish, narcissistic, etc... A real deity (one worthy of worship) would be none of those things.

There is no reason to.
* God has never left any physical evidence of his existence on earth.

* None of Jesus' "miracles" left any physical evidence either.

* God has never spoken to modern man, for example by taking over all the television stations and broadcasting a rational message to everyone.

* The resurrected Jesus has never appeared to anyone.

* The Bible we have is provably incorrect and is obviously the work of primitive men rather than God.

* When we analyze prayer with statistics, we find no evidence that God is "answering prayers."

* Huge, amazing atrocities like the Holocaust and AIDS occur without any response from God.

* And so on…

1. Absolutely no evidence that he exists.
2. The inherent contradictions caused by a benevolent deity (e.g. the problem of evil).
3. The ridiculous nature of religions ("holy" texts and arcane rituals).
(P.S. dominiki123, you want to know who created your life and the life of your baby? You and your family did! Don't be so harsh on yourself.)

believers in god aren't any better or worse people than non-believers.
So why bother if it doesn't make any difference?

The proof against theism, primarily.

Deism's a possibility, but it's little more than atheism that calls the prima causa 'deity' instead of 'natutre'.

So I'm an atheist.
