I'm a Christian, but not a fundamentalist or Bible literalist like Fallwell or Dobson and their ilk. I get concerned when the term "Christian" is used to identify that sort of fundamentalism. To me Christian fundamentalists concern themselves with the conduct of others rather than their own. It's like my religion is getting hijacked.

Obviously Muslims have the same problem, only worse. Many people now identify the term "Muslim" with someone who will strap on a bomb and kill innocents in the name of Jihad. Like Christian fundamentalist leaders, the words of fundamentalist imams are those that are most reported, especially if they call for violence.

What do we each do to reclaim our respective religion's truth from fundamentalists?

Which of these gross wages are taxable? Do I claim my son as an exemption?

There is a Bible passage that talks of this the sins of the father, is this like an inheritance tax? IE defering the tax and then the child has to pay the penalty?

I'm in payroll. This is why I ask these questions.

I was brought up a Catholic, being told all the time that Jesus died so my sins, and those of all humanity could be forgiven. That he suffered to save us and by dieing he opened the gates of heaven. (Apparently everyone went to limbo before that.) It didn't make sense to me then, and now it seems more ridiculous than ever.

Can someone give me a logical explanation of how one person suffering can save humanity. I want logic here. Not just just quotes from the bible. If it isn't rational, why should anyone believe it?

An indication that we are very near to the "falling away" of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 ?

i constantly hear that one should respect others beliefs no matter how absurd one thinks they are. for example, you tell me that you believe that by eating raspberry yogurt, you become invisible and can then tell the future but you can offer no proof of this, and then demand that i 'respect' this belief. this is no different than telling me that a supernatural entity that you cannot prove exists, created the universe and sent his only begotten son, born of a virgin, to die on a cross for my sins even though i wasnt born for another two thousand years!...this is the very definition of absurd! why should i 'respect' this or any other belief like it?

it would mean God was defeated by his creatures. That is by the hands of those who crucified Him.

I don't get it, I'll go to Hell if i don't accept that God (Or his son) Came to earth, got tortured, ridiculed and killed horribly, and all for me? To show that he loves me?
It doesn't make sense.

Hot Carl asked about SIDS - my son is gone due to SIDS. Considering how his question was asked, would it be sin, if he had posed the same question, in the same manner to me, to break bones in his body - for example his face, or legs and arms?

I mean no Garden of Eden equals no original sin equals no god that would be mad at you for something you didn't do. Why in the world would you cling to that over evolution, where nature is set in motion and always leaves room for PROGRESS, which includes religious/spiritual progress? Do you really prefer a god that hates you?

Oopsy conservatives, but the "gay central" state holds marriages together than any of the southern or mid-western ones. Here are the stats from the U.S. census. Hmmm, six southern states rank at the very bottom.
