So why do Buddists follow a mere man who is trying to find knowledge instead of one who is supernatural and shows proof of who He is, and has all the answers?

Who claims that Buddha is a deity? Too many people believe this simply because the religion is named after Buddha.
Buddha discovered enlightenment and ceased to be agnostic because he truly "knows." Stated alternatively, one must question the truth in order to know the truth.

I never quite understand these non-questions.

I have to guess it's some kind of poll of non-Buddhist atheists to see how much they know about Buddha...I'm just not sure what the point is.

But, yes, as a marginally practicing Buddhist...I knew that. (Technically, I suppose I am an agnostic rather than an atheist, since my theology allows for the possibility of "gods"...but doesn't rely upon them.)
