I get so many people, i.e. christians, that come up to me, grab my pentacle and saying, "Oh, look the star of David," or "It's a jewish symbol, isn't it?"

I just want to know, do it ever bother you that no one gets it right or they pretend it's something else to suit them?

And do you ever really like someone touching your pentacle?

Sto-vo-kor

Kahless' son listen
Daughters listen,
Warriors brave and loyal
The blood of battle excites them
We fight, we are passionate, and we kill perfectly
Our lives are short but very bright!

My fiancée have been living together for almost two weeks now. We've know each other for approximately 30 months. I must say that things are extremely good at this time. I don't think I could be happier! People say that when you start living with someone, you learn a lot about them that you didn't know. Things that might make you think again about getting married. In our situation, I've learned more about my short comings and things that I have to work on, and more of how wonderful of a woman she is. And she keeps getting better in every way. We fully intend on getting married in June of next year. That's quite a while from now, but she wants to have a nice wedding and wants to save money for it. We're Christians, me more so than her. I feel bad about the situation, but because I'm so happy with her, I don't that much. How much longer can things go well when I know that I'm in a sinful situation? I don't want to lose what's happening here.

God says thou shalt not kill.

But what about misquitos and bugs.

What exactly is not allowed to be killed?

To take it to the extreme, can you kill bacteria? viruses? disease? They are still one celled life forms.

So what can I kill?

If I kill every male I come into contact with, won't that increase my chances of finding a mate?

NOTE: I do NOT condone this behavior, I simply want to understand why atheists (specifically empiricistic atheists) believe that killing is always wrong.

That is what we are supposed to believe? Probably more, because remember, supposedly Catholics aren't "saved". 33% of the world is Christian. 66% of the world is all the other beliefs.

If you pay homage to a vengeful, mean god, what's that doing to your soul? If you believe in a soul. YOur behavior will reflect what you believe in, emulating what you worship and adhere to. You become a reflection of the god that you adore and love.

If your soul needs to hate, to be vengeful, to be jealous, and to worry about hellfire and damnation, than you worship the wrong god.

You are then creating a vengeful jealous god inside of you as well as outside of you.

I believe in a loving God who is not jealous. I believe that there are many roads to God. He does not care which road you take, or if you take no road.

I have fallen into the trap again! I am lazy and stupid and have fallen prey to the butcher, ignorance and grasping at the self. I have disrespected all that I have learned and fallen into supposed debate with non-buddhists, which is fruitless. I have proclaimed some knowledge of the most profound Doctrine in public which is about as wise as making a living selling tsa'tsa's. Anyway, I hope you true buddhists have enough sense to stop going around saying I'm a buddhist, I'm a Tibetan buddhist, and I'm a dharma student and I'm a practitioner, and I'm trying to learn and then never ask a question yourself. I would hope you would spend a little less time reinforcing the ego and sense of self you purport to refute. Instead of waiting like a cat at a mouse hole for a question to blather on about the precious Dharma, you should study it and practice it! This is my last Answers question ever. Yogini and Vinslave I hope to hear from you two specifically.

In some school districts in Florida and in Georgia, efforts are being made by school boards (successfully) to indroduce courses such as "the Bible as history" or "the history of the Bible" as elective courses in public high schools. Those programs are being contested in court, but in the interim continue to be offered and attended. What are your thoughts on this innovation? As an agnostic, I must confirm that I am naturally opposed...

I hear people say things like " The Truth of Jesus Christ " and stuff like that all the time. But is it the Truth? Do they know it because they feel it? Do they feel it because they know it?

I tend to use the word Truth differantly.

I can have Faith that my car will get me to work today.
I can Believe that my car will get me to work today.
I will not KNOW that my car will get me to work today until it actually gets me to work.

And thats the Truth.

I was researching Jainism and I found this anology about life philosophy. Jainism is a branch of Hinduism. It's similar to Buddhism.

The analogy is this: there are four blind men who discover an elephant. Since the men have never encountered an elephant, they grope about, seeking to understand and describe this new phenomenon. One grasps the trunk and concludes it is a snake. Another explores one of the elephant's legs and describes it as a tree. A third finds the elephant's tail and announces that it is a rope. And the fourth blind man, after discovering the elephant's side, concludes that it is, after all, a wall.
------------------------------------------------

This seems like a rational arguement.

But wait...

what if a fifth person comes along and has already experienced an elephant?

Your thoughts?
