The most dominent meaning is to not kill fellow mankind.
There is war time though. And there is righteous wars. To me righteous war, is if our nation is attacked by another nation or innocent people of another nation is being slaughtered by genocide.
So that is the excuse for jihad. To kill enemies of Islam. Killing enemies of Islam isn't righteous war though. They just selfrighteously think so. Jihadists attack anyone or nation a fatwah is issued on. They would be the ones who don't accept Islam when presented t them. They usually get three chances. The Iranian President sent some letters to President Bush to convert to Islam & President Bush ignored them. I praise God for that. But Iran plans to wipe Israel off the map and then destroy us and our constitutional freedoms. Since we have separation of church & state in America. And separation of church & state is an enemy of Islam.
Genocide was a command of God to Israel to take the land. Only because the people were so corrupt that they were passing children through the fire to devils. They commited sexual & idolatrious sins. But that was a specific time & place & purpose. Also, in the OT, there is the law of sin & death. People were stoned to death for sins against the 10 commandments. And murder, life for life. Grace & mercy came through Jesus Christ, thus to fulfill the 10 commandments, the Love of God in ones heart.
No where does it write in the bible for me to kill others. Jesus said to Love God, love others and even love enemies.
In the Koran it is open ended and to kill the unbelieveres, even genocide, if they oppress Muslims (By blaspheming Mohammed or Allah or the Koran for instance).

God didn't say thou shalt not kill, and that's in the bible because people get really depressed when someone close to them dies. Animals are not smart enough to get depressed, that's why it's "okay" to kill animals, but not humans. That is so as to not hurt the human ego.

Nothing.
Killing is wrong, no matter what it is. Bugs, germs, ideas, dreams. Killing something, no matter how minor it may seem, could have a huge impact on another aspect of life.
Take action to protect yourself from bugs with Off Spray and be open minded to other ideas so you don't harm any one elses.
It's pretty easy to go through life with out killing, but few people actually try to avoid it.

God gave mankind rule of the earth but I think He wanted us to respect his creations and not just kill for sport. The only killing allowed is that which is needed for survival. That could mean animals for nourishment, self defense or giving up your own life for your brother or sister in God.
May God Bless you.

Despite how many Christians will say that the Bible does not say "thou shalt not kill", the Bible DOES, in fact say that. King James Version, of the 10 Commandments.
And before Christians dismiss the KJV, it was THE holy book for so many years, before people decided to doctor it up to suit their whims.

What's with the question? You've already killed uncountable germs in your present lifetime. Think of all the ants you've stepped on without consciousness. I'm pretty sure you also killed other lifeforms. You getting a complex?

When God says thou shalt not kill, I'm pretty confident in sayin he means do not people for no reason.
Wrong: Killing a man because he stepped on your shoe.
Right: Killing a man in self defense. (if you have to)
And animals, hunting is fine.

It used to be thou shall not kill but once again they changed it to thou shall not murder. Yet another Xian loop hole for things like the death penalty and man slaughter or burning a witch alive. Yet they consider abortion murder.
Did you know that 78% + of death row inmates are Xian?

You can also kill men, women, children and even babies if god commands you to do it, just ask Joshua or read the OT
Genocide is ok if god tells you to do it
