There is a prophetic statement told by prophet Muhammed when he asked his companions if they know when the sun goes when it sets. They told him they did not know. Then he said that when the sun sets, it goes to kneel under god's throne.

Does this statement stand with the scientific facts we know today?

I had this argument with a friend of mine, we are both Christians and I have no intention of converting.

But I love what the eastern teachings have to offer in life principles, with regard to sanctuary and simplicity, purposeful and meditative actions, and allllll the healing arts like aromatherapy and massage...understanding the mind body spirit connection. It seems to make so much SENSE.

I have no reason as a Christian to think that I wasn't meant to be sensible and I personally don't see the problem but my friend is really worried that I am going to go Buddhist on her and end up in hell. I think she is being pretty narrow minded and her comments actually hurt my feelings a lot.

I'm looking for intelligent answers from people who know something about both teachings???

example... 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. Now this by itself sure sounds great but wasn't Christ talking to someone? He sure as hell wasn't speaking to me. Nowhere in anything he has said does it state that I will be asking this question while watching a grizzly bear maul a television anchorperson... Flipping through religous channels I constantly see something like "I will take all of their first born sons from them.........for I am a loving God." From what I've seen in person during religous ceremonies, pastors/preachers do the same. Reading 1~2 verses from one book then flipping through to an entire different book and reading a select few verses there. You can't do that!! Thats totally taking this book out of context and leads to the missquotings from crazy people like me. This religon has been around for quite awhile but I highly recommend not taking anything anyone says about it at face value.

I am already getting mail from Christian and Jewish groups to boycott this new coin. The prior 2 dollar coins failed, and this one is sure to fail if Christians and Jews refuse to use it because those 4 words were left off the new ones.

I just saw this article:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070307/ap_on_re_us/godless_dollars

Is it really important to Christians that these words get printed on every coin and bill? I thought Jesus didn't like money? Or- at least not that it required money to get into the Temple.

As an Atheist, it doesn't really bother me that it says these things on money. But- I don't understand why it needs to be there either? Do we need to trust a Diety since we went off the gold standard?

Since God meant for Pro-Choicers to perform abortions whenever they deem it necessary, aren't Pro-Lifers interfering with God's Plan?

Wasn't it God's choice to create Pro-Choicers?

Could you, honestly, live in heaven while you knew people were being tortured for all eternity in hell, especially people you knew?

If you, like I, could not find pleasure in such a place (and I hope no good people could!) what would the Abrahamic deity have to do to make heaven a paradise for you? Would be give you a spiritual lobotomy- making you not care (and thus not yourself)? Would he make you think your family and friends were there by deception, while they were still suffering? Would he bring them up to heaven with you, even though they were not saved? Would he do something else?
I think the first two possibilities are the work of a god that is evil, and the last, well, all it would take was one person in heaven that loved all mankind for everyone to be saved.

People are considered saints in Christian mythology for taking the suffering of others upon themselves-Are we to believe that in heaven they just stop caring?

this person answered my prevoious question about severly autistic children by saying only followers of jesus go to heaven. now from this i can only surmise that he believes that those people who are to mentally diabled to make a consious decission concerning any type of belief are automatically excluded from going to heaven.

is he corect in his statement regarding this matter or is he just spouting off at the mouth and not even understanding the question?

your opinion please.

Even if it meant that you're entire belief system was going to be shattered.

I don't have the truth, but let's say I had not only the truth, but unrefutable evidence to back it up. Not to mention 30 scholars and scientests, 30 priests, rabbis, and other various religous leaders all agreeing with me.

Then would you turn away from your God, or lack of God?

Does that make sense, like say you thought the Earth was flat, and I took you in a rocket ship so that there was no way that you would think I was lying when I told you it was round. That's how obvious the truth would be, could you then just drop everything you know, or is there no amount of proof that could have you give up what you believe in?

7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

God creates evil - ive had many christians tell me this verse does not exist in the bible.

Genesis 8:1
But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.

God remembered - to remember you have to forget. therefore god can forget. they just dismiss this verse anyway.

my point being is, some verses are dismissed and ignored by christians. why?

if its "out of context" then put it in context or dont bother making that claim.

I know that people say God "created everything", but who/what created God?

And please, give me an answer besides "He created himself" or "He's always existed", because if you think about it, there is a beginning to everything - To this earth, to your life, AND that applies to God. And God could not have created himself, because he could not have had the conciousness to. I'm not saying that it's impossible that he did (he did supposedly create the universe, after all), but without him being in existance, he would not have the conciousness to think "Well, I'm gonna go create myself now.." That's a self-defeating statement.

I'm not bashing, I just want to know what people's take is on this.

Who Made God?

If God created Satan knowing Satan would rebel, then either creating Satan was good, or God was bad. Since God can't be bad, then creating Satan knowing he would rebel was good.

If God created murderers knowing they will murder, then either creating murderers is good or God is bad. Since God can't be bad, then creating murderers knowing they will murder was good.

Everything must be good and all things that you think are evil must really be good. Where am I going wrong here?

What if heaven and hell isn't for the afterlife? What if teachings of this theory meant something else? What if finding enlightenment is heaven. Once you are englightened, one views life differently and your eyes are open and you find you have always been in heaven. Being asleep is living life in hell. Being in the moment is the only way.
