There is a prophetic statement told by prophet Muhammed when he asked his companions if they know when the sun goes when it sets. They told him they did not know. Then he said that when the sun sets, it goes to kneel under god's throne.

Does this statement stand with the scientific facts we know today?

Keep in mind this was coming from a man who claimed to ride on a flying horse.

So to answer your question, taken literally then those statements don't stand with scientific facts we know today. However, when you realize that Muhammad (pbuh) was talking about spiritual aspects of the sun then it serves to make more sense. All the objects that were made by Allah are submitting to him in a spiritual sense. Ok, these two sites will explain better than me.

look at the heart of the sentence. read poems from famous poem writers and see what they say.

for example 'Love is like a huge sea which is always in storms', is love really a 'sea'???
