As a Christian I have had the opportunity to attend several Jewish services and found them spiritually uplifting, very positive. Have you had a similar experience in visiting a new Faith?

We studied Matthew 6 at bible study, here are a few verses. Why is it that alot of Christians don' follow this at all?

1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

After going over some questions I realized some people claim that they keep faith because they "talked" to god. Is this for real? Did they really hear a big booming voice that said "This is god talking to you because you believe in me!" Or are they just grossly exaggerating and mean that the they talk to god through belief he is contacting them in subtle ways?

Some modern Israelis feel that God's promise to Abram means that the entire Israel/Palestine area belongs rightfully to Israel. But others argue that the story has nothing to do with the land settlement. What's your opinion on it?

I read a story once that told it well:
God wants you to say yes to him, because he loves you.
All you have to do is say yes. If you don't, then he's gonna damn you to eternal torture in hell.
So, let's say that I love this girl. All I want her to do is say "yes" to me.
When she says no, then I'm gonna have to start torturing her. In fact, to be consistent with the analogy, I'd have to torture her forever.
Now, that's pretty sick, isn't it?
What kind of person am I, not only for doing that, but for limiting her to just those two choices in the first place?

So, is that really god?
