You can go, or not go, to a bible study for any reason you please. It is no one's business but yours. As for me, I'd consider it a total waste of time.

If it makes you uncomfortable, don't go. God understands your heart. Bible study is not a commandment. God wants us to worship Him and to gather together to learn from one another and to support and encourage one another. If meeting together is unpleasant for you, then what would be the purpose of doing so? If you don't like Bible studies, then perhaps you could find another way to meet with people who believe as you do without having to hear prayers that make you uncomfortable. Please know however, that when people pray for those with cancer, they are doing a kind and loving thing. Cancer is a very frightening disease and often a terminal one. I for one, would appreciate anyone's prayers on my behalf if I was diagnosed with cancer. I would have no problem praying for others with this disease. Still, if the manner in which I prayed caused someone to feel uneasy, then I would want to take that into consideration when I prayed in order to be thoughtful and considerate of others, or I would leave the praying to someone who could pray in a way that is less bothersome to others.

I have to tell you, sometimes I get pretty depressed getting prayer requests for all these people sick and dying and broke and losing jobs and children committing suicide, etc. etc. etc.

But to miss out on God's word because of it? Couldn't do it. Remember, you can hand over it all into God's keeping, you do not have to take the burdens on your shoulder!

No its not wrong--God knows your heart--but you should ask God to help you overcome this so it doesnt continue to interfere with your church activities- your appparently a loving and caring person-but dont take this to an extreme.

No it is not, I have a problem listening to all the talk about disease, sometime it is as though they are glorifying the sickness more than the healer.

maybe not wrong, but it seems kind of mean-spirited.

i don't think you're obligated to participate any more than just going to church.

no, if you're not comfortable with it, either bring it up and see if they change, or find another

Church has always been a place of safety, not threat, it shouldn't change now!

Why would you not want to pray for another's well being?
