I read a story once that told it well:
God wants you to say yes to him, because he loves you.
All you have to do is say yes. If you don't, then he's gonna damn you to eternal torture in hell.
So, let's say that I love this girl. All I want her to do is say "yes" to me.
When she says no, then I'm gonna have to start torturing her. In fact, to be consistent with the analogy, I'd have to torture her forever.
Now, that's pretty sick, isn't it?
What kind of person am I, not only for doing that, but for limiting her to just those two choices in the first place?

So, is that really god?

Great question, and I don't find any flaw in your logic if we have the ability to choose God. The "love" for the lady in your scenario never was love at all, only negotiation. We can't make hell a sad thing for God, nor does he lovingly place the unregenerate there. Hell is wrath, and turns the tables on God's perceived weakness with our supposed choice.

Therefore you can only be correctly saying that we do not have the free will, the ability to look to God for salvation. Our depravity is complete, we must deserve Hell in the first place. Only then can we say that there must be an entity outside of ourselves to rescue us from our destruction. Not everybody, but some that the Father chooses. Predestines. Foreknows as His own. That girl never would have loved you in that scenario. She didn't have the ability, you would have had to have the ability to change her heart. The Holy Spirit has the power to do that, it's nothing we do for ourselves.

Your analogy doesn't hold up and I'll tell you why.

You are a sinner. Sin cannot enter the presence of God. God has made a way for you to be cleansed of your sin. Jesus died on a cross for you; all you need do is believe. You refuse to believe. Since sin cannot enter God's presence, and there are only two destinations after death, you cannot enter heaven.

Only one other destination.

Let me see if I can clarify this for you: Lets say that you are a parent and you tell your child not to run on the ice because they could fall and get hurt. Lets say that child chooses to run anyway and inevitably slips and falls. Who's fault is this?
God tells us not to sin because He knows the far reaching consequences of all sin. He wants us to live free of Poverty, Rape, Murder, Disease, Hate, War etc.
When we choose to do the things that cause these calamities, how then can we blame God for the consequences.
We either enter heaven or hell based on our own choices and decisions. When we choose to reject God, God Himself graciously moves away from us, when He does this, He takes His blessings and protection with Him. He will not force Himself on any individual or nation because He wants us to choose either good or evil. God's desire is that not one soul should be lost.
Those who reject Him have sealed their own fate.
What if I approached you and I offered you $100,000 in my right hand or a scorpion in my left hand, which would you choose?
Would it be my fault if you chose the scorpion and grabbed it and got stung?
Your choice, you made the decision.
Stop blaming God for all the sin in the world, rather, get your heart right with Him and separate yourself from the world.
God Bless You....Peace.

that was scary for a second there.... That is only a few(i hope) rigid ignorant peoples perception of god.... God , i think, would give unconditional love but a person may not be able to join god until he is purified of his darkness,,,,, purgatory.... just a time delay until we unite again, and the more selfish a person, the longer the delay and more painful.... is purgatory....

of course this is not literal, tis just symbolic of the soul transition,,,,

oh brother, have you forgotten the LAW? If someone pays your fine and you refuse the offer then the LAW is still against you. That is why you burn in hell, not because you did not love God but because you refused the payment and you remain on the wrong side of the LAW.

You're not suppose to think about what 'God' and 'hell' really mean.

They are only mental projections that satisfy your desire for self-protection and self-preservation.

They will never make sense if you try to think of them beyond that. ;-)

Actually, the appropriate analogy would be that, in saying no to you, she tortures herself.
